who is the go to person for repair. I want to get an A12 back up to snuff
thank in advance

I'm sure you'll get many replies, but I've always gone with David Odess. He repaired and CLA'd two of my A12 backs a few years ago and they're still working like new. But, be prepared to wait...he is very busy. You can contact him to see what his current lead time is.

Highly recommended by many David Odess.
Hasselblad recalibrated my 45 degree PME light meter and they did a good job.
KEH CLA'd my recently bought from them, which required a complete tear down and recollumnation. They did a great job.
Most of my Hasselblad work has been done by Michael at Samys Camera on Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles.
Steve's Camera Culver City has done some special Hasselblad repair work well.

Dave Odess is absolutely fantastic... yes, there my be a delay involved but the results are worth it. Last time I used Daves' services it was to go through a 500CM, 80mm f2.8 Planar C and A12 back. The camera came back to me like new and I vowed to never turn to anyone else for Hasselblad service!

David is good, maybe a bit expensive though. Zack's would be a good alternative.
Both are more or less local for the Northeast.

Maybe because they want you to call Steve, almost next door. LOL. Check him out... they’ve been doing Hassy repairs since Hector was a pup.

I always appreciate the wealth of knowledge here, the list of repair folks other than the usual suspects are certainly appreciated. Now then, on to more pressing matters. I currently have a replacement Hasselblad Flexbody on the way to me by FedEx in the Faroe Islands, I hope to get it in hand by mid next week and I am using my backup, a recently CLA’d 501CM in the meantime.

For some reason and I suspect it could be because the cable release I was using might not have retracted all the way back in, the flat tip or retainer part of the rod that serves as actuator for the shutter has sheared off. I tried to cobble a solution together with my limited toolset but no dice. With the flat tip gone, I put a flexible cable release extender in to keep the pin in place but it only resets the shutter part of the time and is really rough to fire. I don’t want to damage anything else so this camera is officially down.

I contacted both Hasselblad NJ and David Odess and neither said they work on the camera, NJ says they no longer stock the parts. I have also reached out to the other people listed above and await their replies. As you can see here, I have got the problem nailed down but need to get expertise on this when I get back stateside, even if the repair person is outside the U.S.

So with that, any go to people in the EU?

Steve's is pretty busy right now. They're referring all Rolleiflex work to Harry Fleenor and won't do digital at the moment. Not that that's your issue, just know they're not doing quick turnarounds. On the other hand, if you explain your situation and it is a simple enough repair, they might make an exception.

Thanks, since I am expecting the replacement Flexbody to be in good working order, I can certainly wait on the current one to get repaired.

If the part can not be had and I am betting it can not, I think a button head screw roughly the same size could be modified and filed into a shape that would do the trick. It’s a pretty simple camera really, not like the other V series bodies where several things work in concert.

Why is it that all the Hasselblad Repairers mentioned are miles away in USA !!! I need a new mirror bumper foam and CLA on a 1978 500C/M -- anywhere in UK that is not too expensive ?

Dave Feely at Key Camera in Longmont Colorado does work on Hasselblads, not sure about the flexbody though. He's busy too. In fact, don't bother him  I have a Pentax MX and a Mamiya TLR lens at his shop now.

Yeah, I know. He has had a Hy6 body of mine in the shop for a while now, I did tell him no hurry...

I’ve had my A12 backs serviced at Midwest Camera and at Steve’s Camera. Both did a great job.

I 'Bit The Bullet' and had my 1978 500 C/M done in UK at www.classicv.co.uk Jeff Fairbank -- cost £ 252.15 inc return Postage. New foams , body all stripped and serviced .

Great, now fire all the Hasselblad lenses at 1 second for 10 to 15 times every three months and you will avoid having to have a lot of other problems.

Hello!

Any suggestions for Northern CA? Thanks!

Sorry, I can only recommend based on my local experiences. I use Samy's Camera on Fairfax in Los Angeles and Steve's Camera in Culver City California with face to face experience and Hasselblad New Jersey and KEH Camera Atlanta for the remote repairs.

Steve's is close to you. At least he's in the same state. I had three lenses, 1 back and 1 Hasselblad body CLA's and/or repaired at Steve's over the last 6-8 months (in two batches). Turn time was 4-5 weeks for one and about 6 for the other. I have equipment that allows me to measure shutter speeds, flash sync etc. So I know my camera/lens performance before and after service. Their service is excellent.
