Back in March I sent my Hassy 553ELX to KEH for repair. They had it for about two weeks, I get it back and test the shutter. Nothing. So I box it back up and send it back to them. Three weeks later I get it back, test the shutter a few times, seems to be working okay.

Today, I finally get some time to make some images, but the camera dies again on the 11th frame! The bad thing is, I had popped up the mirror to make the last exposure, so when it died, it locked the lens on (150mm with ex tube!) so I am totally pooped again.

Does anyone have an idea on how to make the lens release? Is there a way to trigger the lens from inside the body?

On the manual cameras you can wind the lens's shutter by removing the little box that covers the inside of the coupling (in the mirror box), there are some descriptions around the web for doing that.
BUT, I don't think that procedure applies for an ELX. (just looked at David Odess's site and he says don't do it on an EL* (http://www.david-odess.com/faq.html#q18))

I would try removing and replacing the battery cover so as to cycle the power to see if the camera will finish cycling, at which point, you can remove the lens. I'd also check that the batteries are good and not shorted. I think the likely next step would be calling David.

Update, just looked in my ELX, and the key shaft end is accessible on the bottom of the mirror box, but I don't know what winding it manually might do to the body
