After what I thought was thorough research and a discussion with the Adorama sales rep, I ordered a Heliopan B60 to 67mm adapter. It was my intent to use this adapter such that I could use my 67mm black and white contrast filters on my Hasselblad 80mm CF lens - also Heliopan. Based on comments from APUG members and my measurements, it appeared this arrangement would allow me to use the standard Hasselblad lens shade on my 80mm CF lens. In other words, the lens shade would fit over the 67mm filters and all would be right with the world.

I received the adapter from Adorama and it appears to be wrong; however, I need some input to make sure I've not goofed. I anticipated this adapter would have a B60 male connection and 67mm female threads; thus allowing me to mount the adapter to the "inside" B60 connection point of my 80mm CF lens. Instead, this adapter has what appears to be a B60(?) female connection and 67mm male threads. To make things even more confusing, the B60(?) male connection does not fit the connection point where I currently mount my lens shade. the adapter is labeled "heliopan Nr.336 B CF60H/67 Made in Germany".

Any ideas?

Did I order the wrong adapter?

All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have an adaptor meant to mount Bay 60 filters on a lens with a threaded filter ring.
On Adorama's page for the "Heliopan B60 to 67mm Filter Adaptor #336", the pictured adaptor looks to be the one you want, but if you enlarge it, what is printed on the ring is "Heliopan Nr318 67/B CF60H"
This is the page I am looking at; Dead Link Removed

I have a Heliopan 318 adapter for my 80mm cfe lens and it works fine. It was a tight fit at first but now is great. I tried looking online to see images of the 336B but could not get a good look. Anyway a 318 works.

So, It's their screw up & they should correct it.

I've got a Tiffen B60-67mm for $10.00 + shipping if you're interested.

Yes, wrong adapter. But when you exchange for the correct one think about this again... NINETY BUCKS. GEEZ!

I bought mine used on ebay (Tiffen and others, not Heliopan) and they work just fine. I can't remember paying more than $10 - 15.

Thanks for all the help a good advice. I actually found a Hasselblad adapter on eBay for a reasonable price. The Heliopan is headed back to Adorama for a refund.

I have always sticking to B50 or B60 filters with the except of the few Hasselblad lenses that require other size filters. There is a wide selection of high quality used filters if one cannot afford new filters.

Those cheap-as-chips alloy B60-67mm adapters from Ebay (via China, around £1 each) work fine and allow use of the Hasselblad B60 lenshoods on my 80mm cfe and 150mm cf lenses. Just be careful when screwing a filter to the adapter. Do not tighten as they can bind terminally.
