Hasselblad 500c/m w/ matched body and back serial worth more?

Hey,

Im curious to know whether a 500c/m with matching serial number back and body is worth more than unmatched. Anybody have any experience/input?

Input (but not experience) - minor increase if any. The whole point of interchangeable backs is to (drum roll please) interchange them. But make sure the s/n of the film insert matches that of the back.

The most important thing is that serial numbers on the interchangeable back and the dark slide match, not the camera.

No, the correct dark slide for a particular film back that was manufactured to fit it has the same serial number.

I meant between back and body.

The back and the insert three digit numbers should match. Dark slides do not have numbers.

The inserts are serial number matched to the shell and mis-matched one are slightly less valuable (though not less functional), but I've never heard of backs being serial number matched to the camera body.

That´s it. Mags and inserts are matched by the factory. Bodies and Mags on the other hand are not matched. It was quite common when buying a new Hasselblad kit back in the days that the body had been manufactured in let´s say 2002 and the mag in 2001 or 2003, according to the date code. Did not matter anyway. However, it would impair the sale value if you try to sell a 503CW with a mag from the 60s or 70s, just because it´s old and people pay premium for the newer gear.

Yep, sorry I meant matching years... But lots of great info here anyway, so thanks I recently sold an older 500 and found people were really uptight about it looking just right (black back on chrome body was a huge turn off for people?!) and possible matching back and body. The specific ca,era I'm asking about I just bought as i actually want the lens (cf compared to the c I have currently) and should hopefully get it tomorrow...
