A number of years ago i was asked to act as one of three judges at a 'show/presentatation' of photographs made by younger members of the community.
As we 'walked' back and forth.. closer and slightly further away until I eventually felt I had made MY 'final decision' and overheard one slightly louder comment "It has been done before"... followed by a short 'silence'... and nearly broke out in laughter on hearing the 'response' from one of the older judges... "Perhaps..... but I feel that THIS TIME it has been done 'right' "

"It's all been done before" is an excuse for one's own lack of creativity. The possibilities are infinite.

For instance, man had been painting for some 40,000 years or more before Vincent Van Goh and Pablo Picasso came around. Photography has only been around for a little less than 200 years. Not only is it false to say "Every been done before", but we would be remiss to believe anything other than "we've barely scratched the surface".
