I looked at the Ektachrome Super 8 offering since it was not available last time I made an order - but it's $48 at both Freestyle and B&H!

I didn't think it would be so expensive, compared to Vision3 at $35. Maybe the price will lower over time as initial demand drops off, but the 35mm price seems already at a reasonable spot given Fuji's offerings.

At that price, I will only buy a Super 8 cartridge if I have extra money to burn or if I can get a friend to share the cost and do a project with me.

I hate to diss great vendors like Freestyle and B&H but it's cheaper direct from Kodak, so what are they doing, gouging us??

(Yes, ironically, it's backordered at Kodak too right now - talk about underestimating demand!)

They probably have to buy it from third party distributors.

I am seeing the Super 8 Ektachrome on Frank's super8 NL site for EUR63 INCLUDING processing and a reel. That's not such a bad price, indicating that the actual cost of the cartridge on it's own is in line with Tri-X and Vision stocks.

£30 to £40 per cart and I will buy a handful...but much more and I am afraid my super 8 cameras may remain dormant until I have more cash to spend. If my interpretation of Frank's site is correct, the price is higher than before but not unrealistic.

Film 60€ + 27€ processing

I am not willing to pay that.

Yes, meanwhile it is clear that he offers the film including processing, likely the 60€ he listed before the film was available was meant that way too.

But still that is a lot of money for about 3min of fun.

TheFindLab now says they have 60 rolls in stock for $12 each (though they haven't yet shipped all the $11 rolls that were backordered, but I guess they found a more expensive route to get a few rolls sooner?)

The description says to ship in December. I think they are receiving more in December than they need to cover the preorders.

FindLab now has 880 rolls in stock for the higher ($12) price! Wonder where they're getting them. (If it was direct from Kodak you'd think they'd send out my backorder?)

Good news and bad news. Wanted to buy more some more Ektachrome from B&H. Out of stock (which means good sales for both Super8 and 35mm);but more expected in a few days. I missed the 120 by a few days. 16mm also planned but I shoot that in BW.
Cinematography.com has a Spanish contributor who compares Super8 Ektachrome with old Ektachrome, Fuji Single8, etc. The New Ektachrome is fantastic and very sharp. I intend to slit a roll for Minox and Minolta 16.

At 60 euros that makes it just over 6X more expensive than a prostitute in Amsterdam.

If I had only 60 euros to spend...

Wow that's one cheap "lady of the night". I have a friend in that line of work...I believe she earns considerably more. Wonder if she wants to do a photo shoot on Ektachrome....

If I remember correctly a roll of Super 8 Kodachrome in 1977 cost $12.00. Adjusted for inflation, the cost today would be $69.61, so price is not exorbitant. 35mm 36 exposure is $12.00 a roll.
It should be noted that hookers, like cameras, cover a wide pricing spectrum.

I just got an email a few minutes ago from B&H that my E100 has shipped. FedEx doesn't have it in their system yet, but B&H says it's shipped. I should have it in a couple days. I'm doing a happy dance right now!!!
