Happy Birthday!

Although it is only 10 years since Harman Technology took over Ilford, it has been 136 years sine Alfred Harman opened the Britannia Works Company which in 1902 became Ilford Ltd.

Congratulations to all your staff.

A suggestion for a commemorative gesture: how about making some canister end caps with an embossed "Harman"? and maybe a 10 underneath?
Once Ilford canisters came with an embossed on the plastic cap "Ilford" logo. Maybe just a thought!

Thanks so much Simon for all you do to support film based photographers the world over. I was elated when Harman was formed to save the Ilford brand, and it has been a great 10 years for you. I will continue to use Ilford products because of your genuine support and care.

Regards, John.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday ! Hopefully many more years of amazing and reliable products to come.

(Ricardo's idea for a commemorative film tub lid sounds great.....would it cost much to order the next batch with something like that? Or maybe something on the next print of film cartons ?)

In the same way Ilford is thanking us for using Ilford products, we must thank Ilford for providing them and, specially for its support and comitment with black and white film photography.

As we say, I wish Ilford many years of succesful business, and me to see them.

Great News! I'm going to buy a brick of Ilford film to celebrate just as soon as the stores re-open after the Chinese New Year. Only 1.5 hours until all heck breaks loose here in China. The fireworks are building mightily.

Have my supplies of HP5 Plus and E100VS already to go. The M6 will be loaded with HP5 Plus; the F6 with the Ektachrome. Festivities here start tomorrow (parades, etc.) in Richmond and run pretty much all weekend, with the "biggie" in Vancouver (Chinatown) on Sunday morning at 11:00am.

Oh, and by the way, Ilford, thanks for the great products and a Very Happy Birthday Tenth Birthday!!

HP5, FP4, (all formats up to 8x10) have been my main films for many years, and since last summer, SFX in 120.
Carry on Ilford. Carry on!

Those of us who lived through the doom and gloom 10 years ago with the sudden exit of Kodak from the B&W paper market, Agfa closing it's consumer film division, then the loss of Forte & more latterly EFKE have to be thankful that Ilford took steps to ensure their survival.

Personally I've just switched back to Ilford papers after a gap of just short of 30 years, when I switched to Agfa Record Rapid in 1986 Ilford didn't make a warmtone paper, I'd tried Kentona but the grade range had just been cut. When Agfa went I switched to Forte Polywarmtone, I didn't like the then creamier base of Ilford Warmtone FB, the based chage a little later.

A sample bag given out on an Ilford factory tour included a small packet of Ilford Warmtone FB, which I tried and that convinced me that when my stock of Polywarmtone ran low I should seriously consider switching to it. So with my new darroom almost complete, (it's already useable), I placed a large order 10 days ago which is sat here in the darkroom ready for use.

It's worth mentioning my experiences buying B&W films when travelling (and living) abroad, I was a Tmax 100/400 user and found ithem almost impossible to find, I visited the photography/darkroom supplies shops in a number of countries and they always had Ilford films, paper and chemistry, many also had Foma and a few rolls of Fuji. After spending more than 2 days in Santiago, Chile looking for Tmax I bought Ilford film and continue to do so, once again after switching to AP/APX100 in 1986. The supply chain to customers is vital and as far as I've experience hasn't let me down.

So thank you Simon and the team at Harman/Ilford.

Some of us used FP3 and HP3, it was cheap ex-Government stock when I was 15, already superceded by FP4 & HP4. Personally I wouldn'twant to use it again :D

...With a personal message of thanks...
That's backwards, Simon. Thank you and the rest of HARMAN's team for being there. We've come to rely on you over the last decade and I expect that dependence will only increase as time goes on.

Speaking of time going on, you're 10 years into a 20-year site lease. If memory serves, when Cheshire East Council rejected the redevelopment plan last November, LPC Living had 12 weeks to appeal. I've been unable to dig up information indicating that LPC did so, or that a different/modified plan has been submitted. Can you share with us any new information about HARMAN's future at the Mobberley site? Thanks in advance.
