I just read that part of the press release:

Wow, that is good news indeed!! I know Phil Neilson personally from when I lived in Vancouver while I was attending art school and working at Lens & Shutter and he was the Ilford rep. That guy knows his Ilford products that's for sure! Does that mean we'll get Ilford products in a timely manner out west on the island? Hope so!!!

Simon, will Amplis have a large minimum order? I have heard from several local retailers that they cannot special order Ilford products due to a $1000 minimum order from Wynit. I am not sure if that is true or not. Also, will Kentmere products be available through Amplis?

Dear Justin,

Amplis are also the KENTMERE distributor, I am sure minimum orders will not be an issue due to the range of products AMPLIS offers, it was an issue when shiupping from the USA.

Amplis also distributes Tiffen, Manfrotto, and Tamron amoung other things. I don't think retailers will have a problem reaching the minimum order (if there is one).

For those out west and east, I think Phil Neilson and Amplis is going to be a great asset, they have a very large network across Canada, and I am sure this is why the AMIGOS picked Amplis.
Terry and Linda, both long time Ilford/Harmon representatives will be working closely with Phil at Amplis and I assure you they know their stuff and are very responsive to their clients needs.
Phil has been very active with the Schools , Camera Stores, Labs (big and small) and photographic associations.
BTW Terry lurks on this site and I can tell you what he does not know about photographic materias and control is not worth knowing, he is very approachable and follows through on questions.

Hint Hint to Sean or John if you are lurking. Amplis needs a prescence here.

Great news! Maybe I can get Ilfochrome products at reasonable prices and not be hit with grotesque delivery/duty charges.

That's great. My preferred local photo store (Photo Central) indicated their Ilford orders got held up at the border very often and for variable lengths of time, which sometimes meant low stock in-store.

Simon, hopefully you've found a way to let the stores know directly about this change as well.
