Maybe Ilford needs a lesson in supply and demand. (Kodak long ago lost that lesson.) - David Lyga

Or without the price increases they cannot make enough profit and will close. It's up to us now to show sufficient demand at this level, or else.

My Dad always said "if you cannot sell something then raise the price".

I note that there is a Belgium specific distributor for Ilford products, and all of the references to this increase quote Belgium sources. Could there be other factors involved?

I guess I would like to see a link in English if there is one.

There's a case for merging both threads isn't there. I prefer to be frightened by reading one thread only.

Only if the killer wears IR night vision goggles so he/she can find me in the darkness of my darkroom. :D I'm cutting the power right now so the lights won't work. Not even the safe lights.

So how much are they raising it now? What is the 40% yesterday on top of the 40% today? That is a lot of percent. I wonder if they are going to raise it 40% tomorrow too. At that rate my Leicas will be worth less than the film in them in a week or two. When will it end? The horror!

Safe lights are not safe?!? I am seeing red! I am seeing amber!

I'll settle for a link in Dutch/Flemish/French too, anything beyond rumour would be nice...

Price increases are a fact of life in everything, more so in a shrinking niche market. Gasoline is down more than enough to cover the Ilford increases. I'm glad to hear it doesn't include sheet film so my planned move to HP5+ for 4x5 can continue. Otherwise (other than not copying Kodak's absurd sheet film pricing) I'm not worried. I like Ilford. I'll pay what it costs within reason and, while steep, this potential increase still qualifies.

As we saw in the other thread, an Ilford rep has appeared and indicated that there is NO planned price increase. None, at this time.

A big difference from a 50% increase!

Let us not allow facts to get in the way of a panic attack?

Yes. As history as shown we can always rely on what the companies and their reps say...

I'm going to close this thread with this quote from the earlier thread posted by Harman Tech.

Price rise rumours not true
Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party here. We've not made any price rises, or discussed any with our distributors. Last price rises on film and paper were I believe 2013. So this is not true at all, just pure rumour.

Other thread is here: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Just afraid if I merge two long threads, it will just get confusing.
