Happy New Year, Kodachrome! I'm so glad you're still with us. My New Year's resolution is to shoot 60+ rolls of KR 64 this year (last year I shot about 30). I'm going to do this by switching from my FM2n to a F100 (still manual lenses, though). I'm also planning on upgrading to an F6 sometime this year. And I want to drastically improve my technique and range of subjects. What's everyone else's Kodachrome New Year's resolution?

I like E100GX better than K64 these days.

My resolution is to shoot up that brick of 20 rolls of Kodachrome 25 I have in the fridge...... and cry over the 10 rolls of 120 kodachrome I have that I can't get processed....... and then there is that box of 4x5 kodachrome I have from the 50's.

Processing will be available next year, since current K64 does not expire until 2010.

Regardless, I too plan to use up my K200 and K25 this year. 3 rolls of each.

Hi, thanks for the heads-up. I'd read about that elsewhere on Apug, but not being the adventurous type, and having other priorities in R.L., i haven't worried about Super 8 for a couple of years. It was never the mainstay of my photography.

Well, I'll still try and shoot all the Kodachrome in my freezer this year, since I have matching Kodak PK36 mailers, and they do expire at the end of 2009! I got them quite cheap, but would rather not waste them.

Professional films are meant to be kept refrigerated until use, as they have been "pre-aged" at the factory to ensure consistent, reliable color from one roll to the next. Don't worry about it if you're not shooting in the studio; you won't be able to tell any difference out in the real world.

Kodak USA announced they'll stop processing Kodachrome this Spring. Kodak's web site has these resources:

After nearly having a heart attack in reading this, I called Grant Steinle at Dwayne's and he told me that this refers to the Qualex labs closing, not the K-14 line at Dwayne's.

As long as Kodak provides the film with expiration dates into 2010 or beyond, that is the timeline we follow until we hear otherwise.

I'd better go shoot the Kodachrome I've got here - my camera shop went and mistakenly ordered me the Professional variety at a cost of about $35 a roll, which is about $18 USD.. Better go use it now I've paid a hundred bucks for 3 rolls aye...

Is anyone who is going to be in DC for the inauguration willing to shoot Kodachrome?

I have been trying to secure a ticket since before the election results and just can't make it happen.

It is going to really be a loss if this event is not documented on Kodachrome, it is very poignant in my eyes.
