Medium Format
Hello, I’ve recently joined and looking forward to connecting with other large & medium format film folks. I’m currently using a Linhof Technika 4x5, but thinking of making the leap to 8x10?! My medium format these days includes Hasselblad, Rolleiflex, Fuji GW690III, Voigtlander Bessa folders, etc. Lucky to have access to great darkroom at NC State University here in Raleigh.
Cheers, Stephen

Stephen, welcome from the other end of the state. If you are looking to connect with other LF shooters, see if you can reach Holden Richards, who (I believe) is in the Research Triangle. Holden shoots 8x10 x-ray film and his work is lovely.

If you've not already discovered it, the Penland School for Crafts is near Spruce Pine NC, and has classes and residencies in film photography and darkroom work. (Holden is often found in residence in the School's January session.) The School is an impressive collection of people and facilities for learning all sorts of skills -- printing, papermaking, ceramics, ironwork and more.

Hello Sanders, thanks for both leads. I’d heard about the Pentland School before but not Holden ;-) Hoping to dive more deeply into LF when I retire next year.

I thought Penland was well-known, so I didn't bother to include a link. It was founded in the 1920s to preserve Appalachian crafts and provide a venue for local artisans. It's grown into a remarkable place. Here's the link, for those who are curious:

Welsome
I spent many many hours in that darkroom!

Another welcome from Wilmington. Tell me more about NC State darkroom use. My daughter lived in Raleigh so we make the trek over every so often.

Hi @beemermark the NCSU darkroom is located in the Crafts Center, and is available to non affiliated folks for a very reasonable annual studio fee.

I took these pics back in 2016 when it was more than double it's current size but still a fantastic facility ;-) I'd be happy to connect you with Katy who manages it if you'd send me a dm.

Stephen

I would be down. There doesn't seem to be anything going on hardly down my way anymore. I've seen random events put on by one of the camera shops here and there, but definitely nothing enough to start a beers and cameras chapter that's for sure lol.
