After lurking on APUG for well over three years, I have made the plunge and signed on. Extra income from my wife returning to the paid work force helped me do the right thing and sign up with a subscription for this great fount of knowledge.
I shoot 35mm on a minolta x-700 and srt-101 and 120 on a mamiya 330f
I am presently 40 with a wife and two kids under six, so my photographic output is not up to what it was in the past. I got involved in a camera club in high school, shot the yearbook there for a few years, and in uni for my engineering faculty as well. Today every two weeks I attend a very informal print group meeting to aid me in keeping a bit of photography hapening along with all the other present demands on my time.

I work as a transportation engineer, and that ocassionally that sends me out of town on stints. The longest one was to Australia for 3.5 years! There were a lot of prints to work up after that trip once the darkroom was re-established. In B&W I print onto RC and fibre, and also do C41, RA4 and E6 colour processes. With my kids at their ages at present, the days of buying a colour chem kit and working on it over a few weekends are long gone. I now mix all chems from scratch. I enjoy the process in the darkroom almost more than the taking the photos.

Hi Mike, welcome aboard APUG from BC

You're singing my song...I'm 46 and have a 5 year old daughter who absorbs a disproportionate amount of time compared to her size! APUG's great in that it keeps you in the game and thinking about photography even when Life gets in the way. Now that you've subscribed, dive right in...just stay out of blansky's end of the pool...much weirdness and suspicious stains over there

Welcome from your neighbor to the north, Michigan. No, that's not a geographical error - from Detroit you travel south to reach Windsor, Ontario. Anyway, enjoy!

Hey Mike,

Welcome aboard. I am also in Mississauga and would really like to find out more about the print group that you mentioned, as well as the sources you are using for chemistry. I have been using mostly commercially prepared chemistry but would really like to mix my own fixer and hypo clearing agent at least.
Incidently, I have an exhibit going into the Living Arts Center from September to February entitled "The Last Working Farm in Mississauga".
If you have time, please drop by to check it out.

Welcome Mike From the U.K. from another Mamiya C330F user.

Welcome aboard Mike from another Mississaugan. Where is the print group?

Timothy, I'll try to see your exhibit at the LAS.

Hi Mike, I am from Mississauga tooooo (Eglinton/Mavis). Welcome to real photo site and enjoy. I am 47 (still). Used to live (a long time) in Toronto but will never more and pass through that city even if it is on the way (will drive around). Mississauga is really nice to me.

Hi Mike from Oakville next door.

Hello from Rochester, from a Stratford guy.

Hello Mike,

Welcome to Apug from Victoria, B.C. The print and postcard exchanges are loads of fun! They are under the Member Organized Functions threads. There are lots of really helpful and nice people here. But like Murray said, stay clear of Blansky. Just kidding, but be warned, he likes to mess with your mind!!!

Hi Mike and welcome from the Uxbridge area northeast of TO. I made the commute almost every day to the Adelaide and Bay area but for the last 2 years Richmond Hill is the farthest south I get.

'Lo Mike, greetings from the Small White North eh? Jeez, I used to work in landscaping over summers to pay my way through university -- we worked lots out in Mississauga. Wonder if the Mississauga Tavern still exists... some Fridays the crew used to go on down there for beers (and stuff) and whoop it up. Long long time ago. I hear you about family and photography, it's a precarious balance. Admire your making your own colour prints, that's something I haven't been able to delve into. Rgds, Svend
