HI all..

i want to introduce myself, been taking images since 2003, first with an EOS 500n or rebel, brief flirt with various manual SLR's like OM1, F3, and currently using F2 and EOS 3, with a Kiev 4A as my first foray into rangefinderdom.

the thing that made me chose film photography as my main medium over digital are especially the feeling of peering through the viewfinders of an F2 compared to the lower entry DSLR. i know that higher level DSLR now have improved viewfinders but it is still out of my reach financially.

well that about it. hope to get various information from all of you, especially on processing and printing as i planned to build a modest dark room soon.

Best Regards,

Dave

Selamat malam, Dave.
Do not despair the finances and DSLRs. Analogue is the way to go and you'll come across hundreds of like-minded people here on APUG using much the same set up (and lots, lots more). Dive in and jive away.

Dave - hello and welcome to APUG! :D

Selamat datang APUG mas. Aku tahu banyak orang dengan kamera filem di Jakarta. Dimana kau di Indonesia, Dave?

Glad to have you join us, keep burning film.

halo clayne..

saya tinggal di jakarta, ya masih banyak yang pakai kamera film di sini.. kamu dari Malaysia kah?

Selamat bergabung Dave.
Good to know you're still using film. Lot of my friends had to switch, it's getting more difficult to find processing lab there. Get your darkroom done, it'll be more fun!

that's the sad fact, if you only shoot color maybe not so difficult, but BW and especially slide film is almost impossible to get processed here. that's why i want to develop and eventually print my own..

The best way to process B&W is doing it yourself anyway.

Welcome, Dave.
Make sure your darkroom will be a lot cooler than the welcome here!

Welcome, indeed. The Fujimoto Lucky is a suitable starting enlarger. I hope your haggling "pays off." As others have said, developing (and printing) your black and white yourself is the best way to go. You shall find many film-burning-dinosaurs here ready, willing, and able to help. Have fun.

Welcome to APUG!

Steve

Halo dave, i'm from medan.
We share the same problem about processing the film and the stock of film.
I myself develop my film in darkbox using carton box.
For printing, I have got any luck to set up a dark room.
Currently using epson v500 for digital printing and editing.
What film are you using currently?

Halo Anton!
just responded your thread..:smile:of course being in Indonesia the most available film is the venerable Lucky SHD 100, Tmax can still be found, but expensive Rp 65.000 (US$6.5 roughly). for processing i don't know if you know about micro MF, a local clone of the D76 or ID 11. it's relatively cheap Rp 7000 for making 1 lt solution. for fixer we have acifix, another local made, price is roughly the same.
