I tried to access the site but got a message containg a name & contact info. I assume the domain must be for sale. Does anyone know what happened?

Not working for me right now. For the main page, I get someone's google+ page and for the FAQ page I get a "not found on this server" message. And that's from clicking on the links in a google search that shows several pages under the graflex.org heading.

Working for me right now.
As Ian indicated, likely a server issue with the site going on and off and some inappropriate place holder.

Failed for me.
If its not back up in 7 to 10 days with no notices on other sites then I would suspect it gone.
A few years ago it went down for several days. The owner/operator said he replaced power supply and hard drives in the site server. It has been down a day or more in the past while software was updated.

I just checked it and it's up, no doubt about it. There is a server configuration issue with the site. If you include the www in the url you will find the error, but leave it out and you're good. Follow this link you'll find the site fine. http://graflex.org

It has been fine for me. I just confirmed GregW's observation about the "www." -truzi

Yes indeed, I have used the short-cut URL, not expecting a different result.

I've just had similar issues with my own website after having to switch hosting, all appeared to be fine to me over approx two weeks. Because I could access everything I didn't know that the site index file couldn't be accessed unless it was typed in. I'd actually move 4 sites there were no issues with the other two.

Someone needs to tell the Graflex.org site Admin, it;s most likely an advanced DNS issue that needs correcting, it was in my case. Plus I had a file extensions not recognized by the Linux server I'd switched to, it (index.shtml) had worked for 15 years on a Windows server.

FWIW, in the UK here, and it didn't work by trying to access through a search engine. But it did work by typing " graflex.org" into the address line on the browser (Firefox). (and it's not from the cache, as it's not a site I've previously visited).

This brings up a much more serious issue: valuable sites that do go away.

Right now I have saved links to over 300 photo websites and occasionally I'll encounter a dead link with no way to get to the pages which were once there. I'm not sure if the internet archive site ("wayback machine") will have it.

I think the only safe recourse is to save local copies of the web pages or to print the site contents on paper.
