Absolutely laughable. Even if it had belonged to dear old Ansel and he'd captured a unicorn on film, I think $100K is comical.

That's about $98,800 more than I paid for my Crown Graphic kit in similar condition. Are the Speed Graphics really that much better?

Well, come to think of it, if it was Weegee's camera or Joe Rosenthal's, or Graflex serial #1, then maybe (ahh, no).

But let's admit one thing.... That's really cool! Frozen in time.

there is a person who regularly sells / auctions 100,000$ polaroid conversions.
a speed graphic is at least as useful

Has anyone made an offer?
Maybe they'll let it go for a bit less.

A bargin at only $99K. Will probably sell for at least $10 million. Bid now and fast!

My later Pacemaker Crown was in much better cosmetic, and probably operational, condition. Got it from an original owner who claimed only a handful of uses before it went into a climate controlled hall closet in its original packaging. I was skeptical, of course. But his backstory rang true and he offered a full refund, so after a lengthy conversation I bit.

The camera turned out to be completely pristine. I could not find any signs of wear with a magnifying glass. It looked, and all of the controls worked, as if it had been purchased new yesterday after having been manufactured three months earlier.

Cost? About $350, on the same Ugly Auction Site.

But I didn't get a very nice carrying case like the one here. So there's that, I suppose...

Yes, yes they are.

:D

He's got some charming artifacts along with the camera, but it's not unusual to see that among collectors at better swap meets.

I'd say he'd get $900 on a very very good day.

If that strategy was to get your attention, they succeeded.

I think a lot of people list things for these exhorbitant prices when they expect you to just us the "Make Offer" button, but I don't know why. I've seen 35mm P&S cameras listed the same way along with a multitude of others.

Wouldn't it be funny if some crazy billionaire bought it just because he saw something he wanted no matter the cost?

I've seen a variant where the seller will have a "buy now" above the top dollar from advanced search, and the "make offer" is set to discard everything up to the top dollar. Sneaky way to get you to look and maybe put it on watch, but ineffective in the long run.

Someone who's gotten to be a billionaire isn't crazy... :whistling:

Hey - what are you complaining about - you can pay with PayPal.

and about the price: Every day, a "least-gifted" person is born. If he finds a buyer, we have got a winner!

Anyone looked at the seller's other items that they've sold? They're a used car salesman. Why is this not surprising.

Goodness. I have two of those kits, and the only thing that is missing from them is the lens cap. One is in as good condition as that one, the other is well loved but both work perfectly.

Both were given to me. That's $100K in my pocket, right? I can spend that on film!
