So I started a thread last week about being the winner of a great deal for a Exc+++ 500 C/M Black with A12, and lindahl darkslide holder, WLF, and a split prism screen for $435. Well it showed up today, and serial numbers don't match the E'Bay ad listing. I actually got a newer body and back, but the A12 has a few dings on it, and there is no split prism screen like there was specified in the add. So both the body and back are 86 vintage instead of 84. Not too much of a problem although no split screen, and darkslide holder. Not the end of the world, but still not what I bought and there is just the plain and simple principle of the thing.

So I have contacted the seller about this and am waiting for a response, but I am just wondering if anyone has done any business with Photographers Marketplace in Michigan? Was it positive? I am hoping they can correct this issue or make good on it, but I wanted to ask the APUG group what they would do?

I would expect to get the actual camera I paid for. If the one you got was markedly better, that might be one thing, but otherwise . . .

I would be shouting from the rooftops - or more probably APUG just like you are - untill I got someone's attention!

Mark,

Actually, I would first learn is how to do a "quote" here. I had to "parse" what you did and it looks ugly!

Andrew,

As opposed to Mark's suggestion, I would start by speaking "softly" and contacting the Seller, as eBay advises you to do as your first step.

If that does not resolve the problem, then follow the Dispute Resolution procedures on eBay.

This is 2007. Those who sell/buy on eBay have moved far away from needing people to "shout from rooftops". Or, more likely, clog websites with "eBay gripes".

FWIW, presumably you paid via your credit card? Didn't you?

Doing so enables you to immediately dispute the charge and brings a third-party (your CC company) into the situation.

At the end of the day, other than starting one of those "I hate eBay" threads here - why don't you take your problem to the parties that can address your situation (eBay and your CC company) where it can be dealt with?
