got a flat bed scanner not happy

not so happy with this its a bearpaw 4800ta pro 2

scans ok i thought payed only 13.95 for it

then i found this

so now the only way it seems i can get a good scan is to scan at the bottom right of the scanner good job i only need to scan 6x4 came with a transparency x negative adapter too

seems like you got value for money, Mustek were always the bottom of the bottom end IMHO (and my first scanner was one).

I was once given some advice about tripods: get the best one first because if you buy a cheap one it will just cost you more after you understand why it was cheap, buy a middle one, find its limits then buy the one you wanted in the first place.

clearly this has diminishing returns as I don't own a Flextight / Hassleblad but rather own Epson 4990 (but then that was the scanner I thought would be satisfactory for me in the first place)

it dose not scan badly here is a scan

so im not saying its rubbish just shame it has the chip but like i said as long as i scan bottom right no problems

Why don't you get a new piece of glass cut? Take the old piece to the glass merchants and then they can match like for like.

well turns out the scanner is naff and they wont give me a refund but want to charge me to repair it

and as its used nothing i can do but just lose my cash im thinking of getting this one
canon printer scanner

or any other ones you could recommend that i dont have to sell a kidney for lol

Remeber: Jack of all trades. Master of none.

If you buy a device that does many functions you are likely to find out that it does none of them well.

Consider an Epson or Canon dedicated flatbed scanner. They can be had for under 100.

I personally use Canon scanners (Canoscan 8800F and 8400F) and find them to be more than acceptable for my use as a hobbyist. Other people prefer Epson or other brands. Do your homework and take your pick.
