Yes, it takes the Kodak alkaline 1.5V, or similar one.

But it was designed to use a no longer available 1.35v Mercury cell. Even if it's been recalibrated for 1.5v silver oxide cells, the alkaline cell would be bad news due to the poor voltage vs life curve.

Well, I see, however, it is still for sale, and sure to find a decent home.

It's a very good meter albeit lacking the black cat in a coalmine at midnight capabilites of the LunaPro/LunaSix. I use #675 zinc-air cells with an adapter ring of #12 copper wire in my gear which was designed for mercury cells (two Gossen LunaSix, a NIB LunaPro as backup/reference, two Nikkormats and an F/FTN); just because a cell/battery fits physically does not mean it is appropriate.
Block three of the four airholes in the 675s and they'll last a surprising length of time - over two years in one of my cameras.

I really have no clue what the going rate would be. Searching completed items (sold) on ebay might give an idea, I do know that I haven't seen one of these in ages, probably 20~ or more years. They don't seem common.
