His autobiography "A Choice Of Weapons" is well worth reading....

I love his work, I have his book with his autograph in it. I was very sorry to hear he had died but what a life he lived.

Thanks for the links John. Gordon is coming home to Kansas. His wish was to be buried in Fort Scott, his home town.

Almost no information about him in the newspaper here in Minneapolis. Ironically, this is the area where he had his photography career begin. His death is over shadowed by the death of Kirby Puckett - another local sports hero. It is somewhat disturbing since Gordon was a prodigious artists in many genre and was so prolific as well - movies, poetry, writing, etc. Photographer with WPA (I think) and FBA; Life magazine; some fashion work as well. He will be missed.

I saw a retrospective of his work in L.A. a few years ago. Amazing work and an amazing renaissance man. RIP

Words like genius are thrown around way to freely. In the case of the Gordon Parks, the word more then applies. His talents will be missed, but his legacy and accomplishments will always be with us.
