All,
I am just getting into my darkroom and have not even made prints yet, so I am in need of some experienced advice. I currently have a JOBO CPA processor with no lift that I use to help with film processing and future print processing. I am trying to source lenses for my L1000 for 4x5 printing as well.

I have acquired an older, but in tip top shape, Nova Trimate print processor with the additional wash slot and heater (working). I have a member of my local photography group that really wants to trade me some other equipment for it. He has a functioning JOBO CP?-2 processor with lift and Rodenstock 150mm enlarging lens that he wants to trade me for it. The lens I need for my enlarger to get into 4x5 print making and seems to be in good shape. He wasn't sure of the model of the JOBO (CPE, CPP, or CPA) as it is in storage but will have available next time I visit, but was assured that everything works.

Would this be a good trade? Will I loose a ton of productivity by giving up the Nova and getting the CP?-2 processor? I am sure that I could get the lens on a separate deal if needed, so my topic is really concerning the pros and cons of the two processors.

Thoughts? Also, if there are other considerations or points of interest that I am missing, please let me know.

Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

You already have a JOBO, even if it is without a lift and as you say, you could get a lens elsewhere.

I'd keep the Nova. I've had mine a number of years now and couldn't do without it. It lets me print in the middle of winter when my darkroom is freezing cold and it lets me print just one print if that's all I want to do in a session. If you give it away, you'll be wanting it back in no time!

In the US we don't see slot processors often. I think I would definitely hold on to the Nova. Very easy to replenish. Excellent temperature control. Very elegant solution. I have a Jobo CPP-2 It works great, I have the lift expert tanks, got it all used. It's a big machine, takes time to set up etc.
Keep what you have, simple, elegant, brilliant .
Best Regards Mike

Terry and Mike,
Thank you for your inputs. Everything that I have heard about the Nova is good and everyone seems to say that they would not trade it. I will task myself to test both to see which one I like better, and do some more research about it. Thanks again.
