I found a new(ome) online retailer.. Macodirect.de; I made two purchases over the last two weeks from them.1st the Labbox from ars Imago an a film oder of Ilford FP4 in 120. In both cases things were sent at a rapid speed (1 or 2 business days) and at a competitive price. I'm really happy with their service and will continue to buy there.

Congratulations. It’s always nice to have a reliable supplier.

Just checked, looks promising. Will give them a try before year is over.

I've had very good customer service, (delivery to France) with Maco Direct, when I've ordered things from them.

I'm still waiting for their bulk 70mm to come back in stock.

With the leave of their founder, Hartmuth Schröder, the firm or rather department likely changed to the better concerning arrogancy or insolence towards the customer.

Didn't I read somewhere that Maco** is the company that manufactures a number of film stocks for brands like Rollei? That would suggest that macodirect would be an outlet store, and should have good prices.

**Not to be confused with Maaco which will repaint your car for cheap in the US.

Maco does not manufacture anything but rebrand a lot of things with "Rollei" name on it. In films they use products produced by Harman/Ilford or Innoviscoat among others,

Whatever it is they do, they do it well. Rollei RPX 400 and 100 in 120 is fantastic stuff IME, and relatively cheap for how good it is. 100 Euro for 20 rolls, shipping included? I'm in.

Also one good one from Germany: https://www.nordfoto.de/

I do not see what is the problem with Fotoimpex here, both have Lab boxes in stock with same price:

https://www.macodirect.de/labor/fil...b-box-2-modules-lab-box-module-135-module-120
https://www.fotoimpex.de/shop/fotol...-kleinbild-und-rollfilm.html?cache=1636100695

Also FP4 in stock in both places and same prices ..
Yep. Fotoimpex and Maco match more or less each other prices in most cases, that is why I could buy from either of them. Nordfoto used to be more expensive compared to these two but I see now is different... thanks for the tip!

No, typically they converted resp. had converted for them materials which the actual manufacturer did not offer in this conversion, mostly even materials unknown to the majority here. By this they had been very innnovative and benefitial to us.

Usually I buy from Fotoimpex, sometimes Maco Direct, mostly happy with the service.
Some time ago I discovered
https://www.nijmegenpasfotofilm.nl/
It’s owned by an american photographer living in the Netherlands, just across the German border. There is brick and mortar shop, but also a webshop. Prices are competitive, service very fast, highly recommended.

But who is Hans O. Mahn then?
I believe this is the company that holds the license for Rollei name to use with film? Isn't that related to Maco also?

It is a trading company. At which Hartmuth Schröder years ago as manager started the photo department Maco. This department has a history of converting films under their Maco brand, but was not widely known.

The Rollei name is held by one of the firms that came out of a former Rollei insolvency. Mahn is in no way connected to any Rollei entity other than having the brand licenced to them for their films and chemicals.
The start of their Rollei branding went together with converting several Agfa films from Mortsel and getting a wider acceptance in the photo world, which finally let them open their webshop Macodirect.

Very interesting. Can they convert all formats? 35mm, 120, sheets...

Rollei films never really "shine" for me, but I bought Maco and Rollei branded chemistry quite a few times (B/W chemistry mostly). Good stuff in general.

As far as I know, they outsource this work. Rollei Retro 80, Superpan 200 and Retro 400 are from Agfa material and converted by Foma.
RPX25 is Agfa too but done at Harman. RPX100 and 400 are coated and converted by Harman. For sheet film I don't know.

I suppose that Maco Cube or Rollei R3 was a surveillance film (from Agfa ?) with three layers of different sensitivity, that's why you can expose it between 50 and 6400 ISO. You have naturally change the development...
