evening all.

untill now i have dismissed the idea of buying a dedicated camera, purly because i have one attached to my phone. yesterday i decided that with my young daughter it would be nice to have photos around the house rather then stored on the laptop etc. no way better to do that then get a film camera and use it. so a little research and perusing of ebay (paired with a small budget) made me decide between a canon av-1 or ae-1 both with 50mm 1:1.8 lenses.

i ended up getting the av-1 as aperture priority seemed to suit my needs more then shutter priority. i didnt want a full manual as i know nothing of manually setting a camera up but figured a "semi automatic" was a good way to go. only cost £45 anyway and im sure if i like using it ill upgrade.

ive also got a selection of films to try it out with.

im sure ill be around, lurking without posting unless i have a really stupid question.

Cheers all!

Phil

Hi Philc (again - just answered your other post). I've been back with film 6-7 years now, and yes, apart from I enjoy the slower process, one of the driving forces is wanting to have something tangible that will last maybe 100 years. I've just been printing from some negs from the 40's and 50's recovered from a deceased relatives house. That won't happen in the future if everyones pictures are on facebook etc! I have 1000's pictures on film from 1970's to early 90's, then about 15 years or so on digital, that somehow I have to transfer from one place and one computer to another to ensure they don't get lost, and now everything back in analogue hard copy again for the future!

All the answers to every film question are here! Have fun!
