Going Skiing. Which Camera?

I did said that I do not do photography when I am on skis. I just do the photography off the skis. I still drive and walk around to take photographs. I will take the skis off when I finish skiing and then go back up the lifts with the camera equipment. If I am taking a gondola there is no problem; if I am taking a chair lift the lift has to stop for an instant so that I can walk out of its way.

Yeah. Lifts. What are those? I'm still trying to perfect my patent on a helium-filled camera bellows.

Lifts are added to worn shoes. And also a way to get up the mountain without skins on the skis.

Odd. Skin has always been something I tend to lose skiing.

That would be the non folding one, right? Do you have any outdoor experiences with the folding 75mm version? The W version has the fixed lens position that sticks out too much to put in a pocket! I guess you keep it in a bag when you're out and about?

It would depend on your pocket I suppose. Mine would fit in some of my pockets but I usually keep it in in small pouch on the waist belt of my pack.

For the medium format, it's looking like a battle between the Zeiss Super Ikonta 531 A vs Fuji GS645. Thoughts and experiences on these?

Back in the early 80's I was a Special Forces Team Commander with 1st Bn, 10th Special Forces Bn at Bad Tolz GE. I had a mountain team and we did a lot of skiing. I would take a couple of cameras, I used a small Rollei 35 LED camera and a Pentax ESII. The ESII I kept in a chest harness with a plastic bag over it. The Rollei 35 was dummy corded to my equipment harness and I kept it in a small pouch.

Here's a shot with the Rollei when we were doing an ALpine tour in the German Alsp around 1982.

Sorry for the very poor scan. The film was Kodachrome 64 and I was just learning how to use the scanner when I did this 10 years ago.
