Hi All -- a Camera Club member has given me a Nikon Coolscan III Film Scanner --- he cannot find the 'Disk and Book' fot it at the moment. He says there is a 'Huge Scart Cable' to go into Computer which will NOT fit later Computers but gave ma several 'Adapters' to try out . I have an HP 'Envy m6' computer, There are several USB sockets BUT also a smaller 'Scart Type 'Socket that plugs into my Camera Club Digital Projector, Has anyone USED a Nikon Coolscan III and can give any advice ? I have Windows 10 and Vuesan Pro + FastStone Image Viewer or PhotoShop 7

Hi Pete.

Yeah, that cable is for a SCSI (pronounced scuzzy) interface, which is the only way of using this scanner IIRC.

The easiest way of using one of these is to buy old components and build an old-spec PC, or buy an existing one and wipe it. Something Pentium 3-ish with a load of memory and Windows XP would work quite well. Then you will need a SCSI card, there are loads of these on ePrey for £10 upwards. As for the software, you should be able to find it with a bit of searching!

It might be possible to find a SCSI adaptor that would work with your laptop, however the software will only work on Windows versions up to 8.1.

Actually... Just had a thought! I might have something suitable in storage. Sending a PM now!
