Go early in the morning, like 7 AM to Kendren, 4211 South Avalon, Los Angeles [https://www.kedren.org/] They are poorly organized but that allows people to get vaccines without appointments if they are willing to wait and be "walkins". The walkins fill out forms and they move people with existing conditions and older people to further up the line.

We were in a large room that had a mix of people with and without appointments and all of us got the vaccine including young people.

Utah just opened up to age 65 and up. I was lucky to get an appointment for next Wednesday, the 24th, but 2 hours later they are all booked up. My local health department doesn't have another clinic till March 1st. None of the non-health department providers have vaccine appointments yet.

I just got my second dose yesterday here in Montgomery county next to Philly. I found out about the shots last month from my step daughter who is networked in with school nurses. I am 66 making me meet the criteria.

Glad the roll out has been fast down there. It's been spotty up here. Thankfully it's not dire. I'll probably get the jab in the summer. Would be nice to get things back to normal by this time next year.

The rollout of vaccine has hardly been 'smooth' in Northern or Southern CA. Vaccine sites at both locations have RUN OUT and had to CANCEL vaccine appointments!
The state guideline have been to give vaccines out in a somewhat tightly defined sequence of priority:

1a. First responders, healthcare workers, senoirs in assisted living facilities
1b. Over 75
1b2. 65-75,

At the END of day, vaccines in danger of expiring are given out to those without appointments in accordance with the rules above.
There HAVE indeed been some departures from the priorities shown above, but they are in lower population density areas, or in a few cases like vaccine givers stuck in snowstorm and giving vaccine to other stranded drivers.

It was very recently that teachers were added to priority list, as well as 18-65 who have high risk factors...and that does not go into effect until end Feb or Mar 15!
There are MANY over-75 folks who still have NOT gotten vaccinated thru their usual healthcare provider. My 96yo mother had to get vaccine thru a DIFFERENT health provider. So did my wife and I ...if we waited for our usual health provider, we would all still be waiting for them to contact us to make an appointment! No, hardly 'smooth'!

In an analysis of every state, the ones that try to regulate and prioritize vaccine groupss are less efficient that states that do NOT try to regulate the process!

I am one of those hospital "executives and staff" that some people are complaining about who got the vaccination. When I first learned that we were going to be prioritized I was reluctant to do it because I've been working at home, rarely going out, and am not quite 65 yet. Gramma Mary told me I was a fool and so I went. It was the first day they opened it up to first responders and staff of clinics associated with the hospital, and a lot of them showed up, so it did take a 90 minute wait. I was able to make appt for the 2nd shot before leaving the building. It was all so organized that it's kind of shocking to hear the stories of chaos from, well, everywhere and everybody.

I had no reaction whatsoever from the first, hardly even felt the needle. But about 12 hours after the 2nd it brought on pretty bad chills and fever, a sleepless night and a wiped out next day, getting back to normal about 36 hours after the shot.

I hope the rest of you don't take this the wrong way, but I do feel a but underwhelmed by it all. It's good to know I'm safer, but Mary probably won't get it until May, and there's nowhere to go, anyway. It's going to require a lot more people getting it before life gets much better.

Was that one aborted foetus for all the vaccine. What stage had the foetus reached in terms of weeks and can you give the source for your knowledge?

Even if true, it would be preposterous to refuse to be vaccinated based upon this assertion.
If you're pro-life, you ought to also be concerned about the life of those around you, your family members, your co-workers, your neighbors...those who are still alive and that could be killed by you not being vaccinated.

Here in Boston area the Mass Vax signup was a cluster - you know what.

A - the website couldn't handle the volume. Pages (and you had to go through multiple pages to enter all the info) would not load or took many minutes to load. Odd if they were using one of the major cloud computing outfits (I don't know who was hosting their website).
B- There were 2 major design flaws. First, you had to pick and location and time, then spend many minutes entering info. By the time you got the info in, if you could at all, that time was gone. No way to first enter the info then look for a location and time. Second, no way to register, store your info, then go back and find a location and time.

There are many problems with sign ups everywhere. In the Los Angeles area we have found that openings show up on the website early in the morning, recently at 2 AM, and are filled up in 15 to 20 minutes. As I had posted, the vax chasers have had good luck just showing up as a walk in.

The situation here in Tuolumne county is quite disappointing...actually, depressing...the county was allocated a relatively small number of doses, had to share some of them with first responders in a neighboring county and (by all reports) very quickly and efficiently successfully administered the remaining doses to tier 1a candidates. Everybody else is S.o.L until more doses are allocated to the county...and nobody seems to know when that will happen.

I take some comfort in the fact that my parents, who are 77 years of age and live in Ventura county, have received their first dose and have a reservation for the second.

I'm halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. My wife and I qualify under Phase 1B as over-65s. We'd registered with Orange County's (outsourced) mass vaccination Web site last month and were on its waiting list ever since. Then news reports indicated that, since the new administration concluded passing inventory through the states wasn't adequate and it ought provide vaccine directly to pharmacy chains, CVS would begin offering the service too. I closely monitored delays in CVS' scheduled rollout and, when able to at 7:00 AM last Thursday February 11, booked us appointments for the first day they were offered, namely, Friday, February 12.

One week ago today, at a convenient location less than two miles from home, we both received our first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments for the second doses were automatically made, so our next injections will occur on March 12. We had almost no side effects after last Friday's shots, but have been warned by others that those of our age might feel really knocked out for a day or so after the second dose. We're looking forward to March 26, two weeks after that, when we'll (literally) breathe much easier.

I strongly encourage anyone eligible to create a CVS.com account and book the earliest possible appointment.

I agree but the problem with the amount of disinformation surrounding the whole subject of Covid and now vaccination is that until we get answers from said person I really can't cast a verdict as whether the person in question is disinforming deliberately or has seen what I imagine is a plethora of cleverly disguised disinformation that has been believed.It's the old story: Is the person part of the problem of disinformation or someone who can be and deserves to be disabused of it?

My wife and I just got our second Moderna shot today. Here in Central New Jersey. The nurse told us they were out of shots going forward and taking no new appointments. Frankly, I feel safer now since I'm 76 with comorbidities. My wife's happy about it too. But she'd kill me if I mentioned her age.
