I've been told by UPS that they do not Xray packages. I'm fairly sure FedEx doesn't either. After all, when you order film from across the country (I buy mine from Freestyle), how do they send it?

I usually ask for a hand inspection before walking through the metal detector. I was told by one security person that film should not be carried through these. I usually have less the ten rolls and they will swab a couple and give the rest back and I'm off to my gate. However, thanks now to the Xmas terrorist there's no telling what one may expect. I'm taking a trip soon that will require me to bring 75-100 rolls of Arista Premium. I'm thinking to avoid any hassles sending them ahead to my destination. However, doesn't FedEx and UPS routinely x-ray packages? If they do, then maybe it's better to take ones chances with carry on through the airport.

I would seriously doubt carriers Xray packages, the volumes of materials shipped in a single day is incredible. The number of staff needed just to XRay the packages would be huge, because it takes time to do. It would be cheaper to lose a plane full of goods, every 6 months, then to install and maintain all those Xray machines and to hire and train all those Xray technicians. I can't recall the last time any major carrier lost an aircraft, mid-flight, a few have crashed on takeoff or landing, unlikely to be a failed explosive device.

As for explosives, it's more likely to use dogs as the freight goes by on a belt.
