I recently took a trip to Russia and China and took about 30 rolls of shots. I've been developing them for the past week...

For 35 MM I am using a...Canon EOS.

I'm using a Kodak 35mm black and white film

I switch between a professional lab and a buddy of mine for developing purposes.

Any suggestions?

Judging from your abbreviated description it could be a number of things...but I would probably guess that the density range of the negative does not match the exposure scale of the paper on which it is printed.

That would translate to either inadequate development (provided the exposure was accurate) or printing on too low a paper grade.
