My name is Erwin, and I'm a photographer from Melbourne, Australia.
My interest lies in Panoramic Landscape Photography.

Thanks for having me on board...

Hi Erwin, and welcome to APUG.

There are quite a few APUG members in Melbourne, and we've actually been known to physically meet. We haven't met for a while, so must be due for one soon. Keep your eye open.

Cheers, Peter.

Welcome Erwin. What do you shoot with mainly? I've never shot 'real' panorama but love the format - look forward to seeing some of your pics posted here soon.

Hi Erwin, and welcome to APUG!

G'day Guys

I shoot with dedicated Art Panorama film cameras, 6x17 and 6x24
I love them & use them both out in the field, but not the $'s involved in getting the darn things processed/developed LOL
I'm looking forward to using this forum to gain a better understanding of digital imaging
I've also joined to read/ask questions relating to the epsonv750 which I'm interested in obtaining!, the hybridphoto link seems to address a few of those questions...

I'll whack my sites in my signature panel for you guys to look, and criticize...

So far this seems to be a pretty active forum...
more importantly, lots to do with Analog ... Am I getting that old already!?!?!

Erwin - hello and welcome to APUG.

Welcome to APUGland!

Hi Erwin,
Welcome from another Melbourne person, and newbie 6x17 user.
You won't get much help with digital or the V750 here, but plenty of analog help. Although I'm interested where you will get a V750 in Melbourne, I had to get the V700 which I'm very happy with.

Welcome from just down the road in Geelong, although I'm moving to Canberra on Tuesday next week. There are so many knowledgable and helpful people herethat you can't go wrong. If they have a Melbourne meet up make sure you go along, every one is super helpful, and willing to share little tips with you.
Mike

Another cheerful wave and welcome to APUG from Geelong, Erwin.
A 6x24!? Now that is indeedy w i d e !
Goodness, it seems interminable camera cobbler SMBooth has some catching up to do on the late nights in his paranormal panorama camera workshop!

Welcome from Melbourne, Erwin.

Hope you join the next outing of the Melbourne APUG group. I would like to see some of your 6x17/24 shots. Do you shoot positive or negative film?

Regards, Joachim

And it seemed that I was the only one left standing with my two old, but sexy looking girlfriends(pano film cameras) wow!...

I shoot with slide film, in particular velvia-hey what else would you shoot with!
I have some 6x24's up on my site-see signature down below. They're the ones that look a little longer than the others... I have many more slides to scan though, hence my desperate need to obtain a flatbed

Glory be. And you're certainly getting punch for your packet with Velvia if those pano slides are anything to judge by. The image of Liffey Falls is my favourite; this is probably the best rendition I have seen, no doubt the extra whack provided by the format! Milla Milla Falls, Hopetoun Falls in the Otways... they are all quite a visual jolt. Sublime.

Very nice work. I like your versions of the Twelve Apostles, also the Liffey and Milla Milla fall pictures already mentioned by Gary. Velvia? Of course! These slides must look pretty impressive on the light table.

It was noted on the first visit and subsequent visits had me scratching my head. Erwin, what profile did you give to the scans on there, as the colours appear noteably Vaudevillian in some images — a trifle too extreme and false (e.g. like PhotoPro), even by Velvia's lush standards. Or maybe it's the scanner itself (not an uncommon difficulty). Prints I would think are neutral but still strong in the traditional Velvia (50) palette. By way of mention, I clambered upstream of Liffey Falls to Liffey Spout in May 2005, dangling off the slope with only a rope to stop me tumbling down. I wonder where you were for your image — on an overhead trapeze?? It is a much-loved destination I will be heading to in February.

Welcome Erwin.

With the two babies you have I am very envious. I have been in the long process of trying to gain expenditure approval for this must have type of camera kit from the financial controller here in Oxley Road. But to date I kept being asked what is wrong with the two panoramas you already have - Horizon 35mm and an archaic Kodak Panoram from 1904.

It will happen one day, where I too will have at least a 6x17.

You should find a lot happening around here.
