Erwin, what profile did you give to the scans on there, as the colours appear noteably Vaudevillian in some images — a trifle too extreme and false (e.g. like PhotoPro), even by Velvia's lush standards. Or maybe it's the scanner itself (not an uncommon difficulty).

Would you believe that some of those fake looking ones you mention were actually taken with a digital camera on top of a lightbox:blink:, yeah the colours need a little tweaking but i tried as best i could at the time. A proper scanner will do the trick here.

I clambered upstream of Liffey Falls to Liffey Spout in May 2005, dangling off the slope with only a rope to stop me tumbling down. I wonder where you were for your image — on an overhead trapeze?? It is a much-loved destination I will be heading to in February.

You know your spot well, yes it was certainly an experience one that ended in near disaster, it took me about half an hour 20 to critically compose this image then another 3-4hrs to get the shot just right, with the ferns and all being still...

I remember the tripod legs being about 30cms apart for this shot-as you can guess with a heavy pano cam on top this is no mean feat!

Hi Erwin,
Welcome from another Melbourne person, and newbie 6x17 user.
I'm interested where you will get a V750 in Melbourne, I had to get the V700 which I'm very happy with.

The v750's aren't available in Australia, which is very unfortunate, the v750 comes with a few extra things, and with a strong Aussie dollar (at the time of writing this reply) it makes it appealing getting one from the states.

And it seemed that I was the only one left standing with my two old, but sexy looking girlfriends(pano film cameras) wow!...

I shoot with slide film, in particular velvia-hey what else would you shoot with!
I have some 6x24's up on my site-see signature down below. They're the ones that look a little longer than the others... I have many more slides to scan though, hence my desperate need to obtain a flatbed

Erwin,
If you like your welcome to try scanning a shot or two on my V700 to see if its what you want.
PM me if you like.

Oh dear. If Gerry Harvey and Solomon Lew hear about your courting a scanner from yonder, they'll be crying into their pancakes. It really is appealing to get anything you want from the States at this time. But remember what Uncle Harvey says: online shopping is hurting him and needs to be taxed. Blahhhhhh—. As if... :pouty:

What!? 3-4 hours waiting for the ferns to stop waving at you? Praise be... My tatty notebook records I spent only 40 minutes there then "skidaddled back to shelter". What are you using for those shots Erwin? I suspect it's a Fotoman or something similar? Was wondering if you'd been to Marriotts Falls, outside Tyena on Mount Field's border, along with the haunting Growling Swallet and Junee Caves?

Anyways, bring your kit down to some fav Otway haunts this coming spring-winter (actually, there's one jaunt scheduled for 22nd of this month visiting all four waterfalls but is likely to be burdened by a large group of mostly unskilled novice walkers (not the best place to go if you're a novice...) and a pressed timeline given the terrain and distance. Great place stretch a leg or break one...

I hate waivy ferns! what can i say!:D
I'm sometimes a bit of a perfectionist, also using f32 that day, as opposed to using 22, or 16 might have been better from a time wise perspective. Also 50asa made things worse still- I just envisioned this on a wall when I was there shooting, just wanting a fine result...
Never been there, love to check Marriotts falls out some time...

I have Art Panorama cameras:wink:

Envisioning, conceptualising, visualising, call it what you will (and here on APUG, each and every word will be debated) that's the most important part of it all: that the image meets with your approval (irrespective of the circumstances) and to heck what others think. I have a Liffey Falls image queued for scanning/printing like dozens and dozens of others. Can't wait for the lab to re-open!!
