I've been fooling around with various industrial LED light panels and point sources on their own. So far, none seems to have adequate output for my routine kinds of enlarging needs.

That sounds about right actually. I recall that you are enlarging fairly big negs to a large print size, with masks and filtration involved, while the thread over on LFF was for what you might call normal 'table-top' use and 5x7" black and white negs. When a lot of light is needed there isn't a quick-fix substitute unfortunately - quite likely I should have mentioned the reasonable limitations when I suggested the lightbox ideas from LFF.
