Dear All,
there is a Gandolfi camera currently for sale on *bay. It is listed as a whole plate. I think this may be incorrect. The dimensions are not the same as my Gandolfi WP camera, images of which i posted here recently. I am not in any way trying to put people off, but I feel that potential buyers should ask a lot of questions regarding the dimensions, etc. The base (or rear) dimensions of my camera are 10x11", my WP back is 9x10", larger than the *bay model. I hope this is of some help. The one on *bay certainly looks beautiful, but could be a 5x7 or half plate model. My model also has more screws in the parts.

Hi Anton

Yes I noticed that too. It looks to me like a halfplate/7x5 with a 5x4 reducing back on it. Might explain why its currently at over 200 quid when the the genuine WP Conley didn't make £40 (or its reserve).

;-)

Have you been busy Harry, the seller has amended his auction details !!!!

There's a Gandolfi tripod on the same site, starting price £199.99 or buy now £699.99 He also wants £599.99 Buy it now for 12 10x8 darkslides !!!!!

I think I paid £50 two years ago for my tripod, but the way the tilt clamps is not really substantial enough to take my 10x8 Agfa Anscos.

Ah, yes Ian, he has amended it, not down to me. I think the poor chap just doesn't know what his camera is exactly. The title of his listing is misleading and given the current surge in WP interest could induce a unfulfilled WP frenzy. Oh well, what a shame. My Gandolfi tripod came with my camera and is a beast, OK for home work but i'd never be able to lug it around the countryside. Being reasonably light my WP camera sits nicely on my berlebach tripod.

I was watching the Conley WP on eB&Y and was very tempted to bid but decided against it. The 2 holders went for around £100 which is too much for me.

The Gandolfi looks like a half plate. Nice peice of kit but to rich for my pocket

there is a 6½x8½ Wood Field Camera on *bay at the moment based in India, which looks OKish, has a plate back though. The price of holders is very high at present, due to their scarcity I would imagine. I paid through the roof for mine, but they are in excellent near-mint condition and well worth it. Hopefully things will change........

Thats the second camera like that I've seen today. An APUG member who makes lens-boards has a photo of one on his website.

It does look very nice and tempting . . . . . . . .
