Hi All,

There will be a lot of fixes/feature requests going in this Thursday and through the weekend. The main things planned for the next 5-days:

-Social groups re-launched. It's taken longer than expected to find a good system and tweak the importing. We started with one system and later found a better solution and that is now ready to go live this week.

-Software point release upgrades for forum and gallery system. These point releases resolve many bugs in the software so it is best we keep our software up to date. These updates take a bit of time as we must test them and ensure none of our hard coded changes are overwritten (and if so get re-applied)

-By request, APUG Classifieds will have a new (optional) feature for sellers to add a paypal 'buy now' button to their main ad page. The button is tied to their own paypal address. The seller can also specify if a percentage of the sale goes to APUG. The buy now button (using some newer tech) will then pay the seller and auto-disperse the designated percentage donation to APUG's paypal address. This takes the hassle out of sellers having to manually donate a % to APUG after a sale, by doing it straight from the button. If this option is used, then ads in the thread list will have a small text of "x % to APUG" so buyers are aware the seller is giving APUG a kick back (this might increase activity for the buyer). Once the buy now button shown on the ad page is used for a purchase, it will also leave a historical marker that payment was made and a donation to APUG was received.

-Lot's of small fixes and tweaks. Everything from a re-designed image page for the gallery images (reducing clutter), to 1-click mark posts read and dozens of other fixes/requests.

Thanks!
Sean

You should have an upload button and option for urls

Or are you talking of other areas?

I am restricted to loading urls only. I cannot upload a file from my computer. I do not have a dedicated server.

I thought the same thing right up until this moment. If you select the "image" icon above the reply panel, you only get an "Upload from URL" option. The "Upload a File" button below the reply box lets you upload directly from your computer. Previously, that option was offered simply by selecting the insertion options from above the reply box.

Ok, I finally found the button that I needed to upload an image. You realized that we are conversing from Los Angeles to New Zealand in seconds. Something that was unimaginable 30 years ago.

Cool. I now see the confusion between the editor image icon and the upload a file button. The insert image icon in the editor should also allow for a file upload. I've seen others complain about this at xenforo forums, maybe we can find a way to make it more intuitive.

I just assumed the Upload A File button was for PDFs, DOC, XML and others of the type, so until now it hadn't occurred to me to look there for uploading an image as there's a dedicated button for that.

You mean to say my letter hasn't arrived yet?? :-(

No, but I did get the post card.

And I of course assumed exactly the opposite.

Gee it must be fun being Sean .

Any chance to consider also fleshing out the gallery statistics ("Your Statistics") for indiviual subscribers? Perhaps to add cumulative counts for overall views and overall comments for all uploaded images?

I used to use these numbers to know if someone had viewed an earlier posted image and perhaps left a comment for which interest or courtesy required a response. Glancing at those stats saved me from needing to periodically look at everything for any activity when there wasn't any.

Also, might we also consider disabling incremented gallery view counts when generated by the image owner's own views? I know I mentioned this briefly earlier, and you seemed to agree, as that's how it was previously. Just didn't want it to fall through the cracks...

Thanks Sean,
Ken

Nice catch of the bird in mid-gait. I think he's sending a message by ignoring the bread crumbs as he also refuses to directly look at the human. Such an inter-species put-down...
