Hi all,
There is some NOS FX-50 at my local shop that has been sitting on their shelves for at least a year. They are blowing this stuff out very cheaply. I'm thinking of trying it, but am not sure if it'll still be viable.

I found this thread: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Where there was some talk about death even before opening, but circumstances were suspect.

Does anyone have any experiences and/or opinions on what my chances are of getting good results from old FX-50 stock, unopened?
thanks,
allan

It's hard to tell without looking at the solutions themselves -- are they yellow at all?
If it's cheap, it may be worth trying out, but only on an inconsequential roll of film.

When it first came out there were stories of "sudden death" similar to Xtol. Paterson developers have always had a bad reputation as far as shelf life.

The FX-39 I tried had a very short shelf life, too - less than 9 weeks. But I'd be willing to invest in a lot of small amber bottles at these prices. It's like $2 a box.
