Suzanne,

Count this as positive feedback. I also envisioned this being done at the VPC, with those wonderful high windows. In the job lot of darkroom/camera stuff I bought recently, there is a studio tripod on wheels, which may make focusing a little easier with the LF cameras....

Use of polaroids is strictly optional, but I will make my polaroid back available to all...

Happy Holidays Folks!
I just want to put in my vote for a LF workshop at VPC as suggested by Suzanne and Bill, late March and April would work best for me too, too many ski trips in January/February, I'd be willing to help out in any way that I can, looking forward to others' feedback!

The one time a class I was in went over lighting, they put me in the chair to be the model. So I still don't know how/where to put lights, etc..
Though I don't do LF, I'd like to soak up all the knowledge I can. As long as I'm around, I'll do what I can to make it. And Springfield is fine with me, as is anywhere around here (I don't mind driving).

workshop

I'm willing to help out for the lighting workshop. Don't pretend to know that much about lighting but I do have 4x5;5x7 or 8x10 cameras. I did do one project with portrait and natural lighting. Someone have a polaroid back because that is the quickest way to learn?
Still willing to do darkroom and/or platinum workshop. Need to get feedback with time and place. I only say that because I could easily host 4 or 5 people at my house. I'm not really sure that I can just breeze into Whitey's darkroom facilities and be comfortable there. That would be a waste of time for everyone.
Who is still up for a trip to Bash-Bish? If you haven't been there you are missing alot. Spring is just around the corner....
Best, Peter

I would be willing to help out in any way...but am not that interested in portraits. I could bring the 4x5 and a polaroid back if needed or if someone wanted to use it.

Peter & All,
I am definitely interested in a darkroom/platinum workshop and a field trip to Bash Bish, March/April are still the best times for me, I'll wait to hear from the rest of the gang!!!

Happy New Year!

Get Together

As I mentioned previously I'm not the big Portrait person but am more than willing to show up and spend time with people in rotation to show them the workings of a view camera. Not everyone will be sitting or taking portraits at the same time; therefore those who might be interested to try their hand with a view camera will have plenty of time to play...
For darkroom We need to clarify what is most important for people to want to learn, see, or do.
For Plat it would be good for everyone to be able to make an enlarged negative and a print of their own. This would take an entire day. If people just wanted to see the process that take less time. Maybe you could all bring an overly dense negative that will print for platinum. Cannot cut corners there.
Start throwing out ideas everyone.....
Best, Peter

Happy New Year everyone,

I have some studio lighting equipment (lights, stands, softbox, umbrella, flash meter, canvas background, etc.) that I can bring to a workshop if the date works out. I love shooting portraits, and while not my day job, do take the occasional portraits for pay. Here's a portfolio of studio portraits that I put together last year:

ok, a stupid question...what the hell is "BashBish?"

Yeah! I apparently missed this, too! What's BashBish, again??

Looks like we have some interest in an LF portrait workshop. I will start a thread next week when I take a closer look at my schedule, and propose a couple of dates in late March or early April.

Happy New Year, everyone!!

Nice website Art! also...I wonder if I could bring (or send) my "future" daughter in law as she is getting into portrait photography and would love to gain some practical experience? She isn't an apug member yet...but did buy Sean's mamiya equipment!

Hey! This sounds like a party! All we need is a specific time and date. I'll bring a couple of cameras, a couple of polaroid backs, some lights and a nice big drop background... oh, and a lot of curiosity and a wealth of inexperience. Good enough?

OK folks... here is some info from the VPC for March/April 2006.
March 1 - 31 there is an exhibit of the work of Frank Ward; Christine Pratt and Geoff Bluh.
April 1st & 2nd I take down the show, patch, touch-up paint the walls and start hanging the WNELFP large format exhibit (who the Hades set this schedule?!!).
April 5 - May 5 is the Western New England Large Format Photography exhibit. The reception for this exhibit has not been set as of yet.
So the weekend of April 1 & 2 would not be a good time to schedule an event at the VPC.
John... bring the kids. If they get a little antsy, you can slip out and go to the Quadrangle/Museums to see the sulptures of the Dr. Suess characters, providing the weather cooperates.

Darkroom workshop

I think we need to do something before March....maybe late Jan or early Feb.
- maybe a LF darkroom class?

And...how about doing something closer to the eastern shore...lets say someplace in the Providence / Boston / Worcester triangle. Any ideas?
