There are literally dozens of these on the major auction website, but I’m trying to avoid the “EXC+” listed lenses containing fog, haze, or fungus that seem to be a very high percentage of the offerings there. I'm less concerned about case wear than I am the elements and optical path. If it matters, this would be going on a Canon P.

From what I’ve read, the many Canon iterations of this lens are largely similar optically. If this is true (and if not, I would love to be corrected and directed), then I’m not particularly wed to any specific version. Let me know what you have and price and shipping to Philadelphia, USA zip 19107.

Thank you.

Similar but not the same, I tried switching out a hazed inner lens in a newer version with one out of a chrome version and they are different, Also the front element is also slightly different.
At least the Japanese sellers describe any defects, local sellers where I live just write I dont know cameras, have out of focus photos and still want top dollar.
Good luck, took me awhile to find a good one at the right price.

FWIW - Igor's website has a 1.8 50mm Serenar which I believe is the same lens as the chrome Canon - they changed the name at some point.

Thank you for that info. I ended up buying a 50/1.8 from someone who responded quickly and the lens is now en route, but that's a good resource for the future.

FYI- the Canon f1.8 50mm on the Canon P can use the Canon "Auto-Up" close up attachment which is a diopter lens and a corrective lens for the viewfinder and rangefinder - all in one. It works pretty well and can focus as close as 22 inches.

I have one of those lenses and have never used it....
