Fujinon-C 450mm vs Nikkor 450mm lens?

Im sure this has been debated a number of times, but I wanted to get some fresh information of these two lenses from people that have used one or both of them.

I am planning to get one or the other to use on my new 11x14 camera.

The fujinon-C 450mm F/12.5 is in a copal 1 shutter and acording to the company, has greater coverage then the Nikkor. It is also ligher.

The Nikkor 450mm F/9 is in a copal 3 shutter and acording to the manufacture, has less coverage then the Fuji lens. I have heard that the Nikkor has more coverage then what they say though.

I have also heard that the Fuji tends to get darker on the outside of the lens, where the Nikkor does not.

Well, any comments would be of help! Remember, this is being used on an 11x14 camera.

I own both. They both cover 12x20 (which is much more coverage than the manufacturere's specs suggest), but the Nikkor allows for some movement on 12x20 - the Fuji does not. In terms of image quality, I cannot pic them - I have looked at 4X5 chromes with a 10x loupe of the same scene and they are both equally excellent. The Nikkor seems to be more highly sort after for ULF than the Fujinon - it has a couple of inches more coverage. I'm not sure what you shoot, but if you need a lot of movement on your 11x14, I'd recommend the Nikkor purely based on extra coverage. You will however be very satisfied with the Fujinon's coverage for most landscape applications.

I debated between the lenses for my 14x17 & went for the Nikkor due to the extra coverage it gives. The Fuji is smaller & lighter, so if you intend going walkabout with your 11x14 go for the Fuji.

Do you use filters much? What size do you have now?

The Nikkor is a stop brighter on the gg.

I went with the fugi and use it on the 7 x 17 plenty of movement at 450 mm it has been bright enough for my old eyes, and if you remember my sweatshirt-jacket is my dark cloth...I like it on 8 x 10 and also 5 x 7 and 4 x 5....it is razor sharp....it reportedly,(contrary to some manufacturers reports) does have less coverage than the Nikor....but in my case has always been more than adequate....7 x 17...should be fine for 11 x 14...it's lightweight, compact design can be advantageous, glad to see you have moved away from that 8 x 10 point and shoot.. BTW your 210 Sironar will work on 11 x 14 for close portraits, pulling the bellows...
