Does anyone know how to remove the front lens element in the Fujinar-E 75mm f4.5 enlarging lens? The back is easy but I can’t see any way of removing the front and I need to get that off to clean some haze that’s on the inside of the front element. There is a middle lens grouping as well so I can’t get to it through the back. If anyone knows how to take the front element out please let me know. Thanks.

A lot of lenses like this have a ring that rotates off counter-clockwise -- or may just be a cover that are pressed/glued on. Hard to know which. I hope you have the right tools.

Also, try the CAMERA REPAIR Sub-FORUM!!!

The only good news is that this lens sells for $20-30 on EBAY -- if you mess things up.

Yea, I’m just going through what came with my new-to-me enlarger. Doing a full CLA on the three lenses and this is the only one I can’t get totally apart. There are no spanner grooves on either the front or back. The back just unscrews by twisting but the front appears to be pressed in which has prevented me from getting it totally clean.

I hadn’t even gotten around to looking them up to see about simply replacing so that’s definitely good to hear that I can just swap it out with a direct replacement cheaply but if I’m replacing it I’ll probably get a better lens at that focal length. Thanks for your reply.

One of these should loosen the ring with letters. It is worth trying to get clean
I believe it is a 'tessar' style.
I have it's big brother; a 250mm Fujinar enlarging lens that can cover 8x10.

Ah yes! I didn’t think of that. I used to have a set of those but don’t have them here. Do you know what those are called or have a link so I can find a set?

I use a bunch of items I have collected over the years, like the rubber things for the bottom of table legs. I have been thinking of getting a better set from here:

Great, that’s what I needed. I found the same set for $25 and free shipping. Thanks for the help!

All of the Fuji large format lenses I have seen -- from Rectar to Fujinar to the most recent crop -- have slots in the front for a spanner wrench. Even my Fujinon-EX 75mm 4.5 has front slots -- although they are hard to see.

But those LENS PADS look like a good idea -- to avoid having a spanner wrench slip and scrape the lens. Been there, done that.

I try them first, even when there are slots for a spanner wrench.

Yea, these don't. I was surprised as well and it left me pretty perplexed for a bit until the cups were brought up.

Thats definitely good practice. I'll do the same once I have the cups again. I just received what should have been that order but they sent the wrong item so I've got to wait a bit longer apparently.
