Fujimoto CP32 Processor

Well, I did it. I make a very good offer on a Fujimoto CP32 processor that I hoped would be functional. I'm planning to use it for RA-4 printing up to 11x14 inches. The unit arrived today. I unpacked two boxes, one with the CP32 processor (very heavy - maybe around 70 pounds), and one with the 3 roller assemblies and covers, put it together and filled it with water to test it, then crossed my fingers. Turns out the unit appears to really be either completely unused or very lightly used as the seller indicated. All of the gears look new with no wear, engage and roll smoothly. The rollers appears brand new, no sign of any chemical residue or markings, and the feed and inside covers is shiny and new looking - just the exterior of the top cover seemed to have some scuffs from poor storage; that cleaned up well a little softscrub, but that was it.

The CP32 appears to be functioning perfectly. The CP32 has benefits over the CP31, such as the ability to control the temp of each of the baths instead of just the first bath I read in an old Shutterbug review. I don't have the manual - if anyone knows where I can get one I'd really appreciate it. I have all of the CP31 manuals. I'll be getting the CP32 wash/dry unit as I made a very good offer on that unit too. The CP32 wash/dry unit appears to be new or close to new as well. The two units hook together with a generic RS232 serial cable. The controls found in the CP31 drawer as gone - everything appears to be controllable via the CP32 digital panel with this model, including the wash/dry unit settings.

The wash/dry unit of the CP31 connected to a CP31 processor with a much simpler signal cable and a flexible drive shaft with a drive shaft coupling. I'm still unsure if I even need the flexible drive shaft and coupling to connect the CP32 wash/dry unit to the CP32 processor unit; the CP31 parts list assembly looks quite different from that of the CP32 wash/dry unit - the CP32 wash/dry looks like it might have its own motor to drive the wash/dry unit rollers with its own chain drive. I won't know for sure if I still need the flexible drive shaft to connect the two. If it still needs one I could make one and attach it using a 12mm x 25mm generic shaft coupler, but I'm suspecting it might not be needed with a CP32 processor unit.

The more unfortunate issue is someone bought just CP32 replenisher unit from this set a month earlier from the same seller for $125. The CP32 replenisher connects to a CP32 via a DB9 connector which I don't think will connect to anything but CP32, so there must be someone else out there with a CP32 setup,or they scoffed it up to resell - I see one for sale for an outrageous $900USD. For that price I'll rig up some funnels to the replenisher lines!

Anyhow, if anyone does know of any CP32 documentation I'd really appreciate it. I can get by with the CP31 doc - they are similar enough and I can figure out the rest, but would be great to know of any specific things that are unique to the CP32.

Going on the condition of those hoses, that unit looks pretty much as it left the factory. I would think you have a wonderful score there.

Wow, that's the stuff of dreams. RA4 is a blast and the chemistry is cheaper than black and white. I get 10 liter blix conc. From my buddy that has a shop for 21 bucks. It's cheaper than rapid fix. I like that you are getting wash dry setup, .You're going to have fun with that. Just take care of it and it will last forever,

With 2 liters per bath, just replenish every 10 prints, I guarantee you won't see any difference.

Nice! I have 2 CP-31s and a CP-51, i don't find the -31s lacking though it does sound like the 32 has some nice features too. They are really a great setup for RA4 which is what I use mine for. Spare parts are a bit dear however...

Which explains why some have two of them - as that may be the only source of spare parts in most cases!

Well, I bought my 2nd one since the price was good, and I figured I could cannibalize it if need be, but I haven't needed to so far. I should probably unload it, it takes up a fair bit of space.

These units are so incredibly well built. I finally received the CP32 wash/dry unit and it also showed no signs of use or wear. The only glitch was that it required the flexible drive shaft and coupler that connects to the shaft of the CP32 processor to drive it, and it didn't have either. I was very fortunate to find an original flexible drive shaft and coupler for it after a lot of searching. It was the shaft that was the difficult part to find; I also found substiture couplers, but its nice to have the original parts and lucky I found them. Now if I can only find a used CP32 replenishment unit in decent shape....

I picked up a CP-32 from a local college last year. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but hoping to finally have the time this summer!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Wow, I was beginning to think there was no hope to find it. Again, my sincerest gratitude (you wouldn't also have the W/D unit and manual as well LOL?) Let me know how putting your CP32 into service works out - I'm learning a good deal just from playing with it directly; its an incredible piece of engineering.

No problem. I do happen to have the wash/dry module. No manual for that, however. The seller informed me that the drying function does not work. Now I'm really itching to dust this thing off. I need to make the time for it this week.

I wouldn't stress too much about the replenisher unit. All it does is inject 5-10ml of developer and blix for every print. I print about ten 8x10s and then pop off the top and pour around 100ml of developer replenisher into the developer tank. I don't worry about the blix. Saves a bunch of hassle setting up the replenisher unit.

The way I like to use the unit is for single print sessions. You can get about 50 8x10s from 2lt of chmiestry. For me, that's a whole day of printing. Then I drain and clean the processor completely and store it. That way you keep the rollers really clean. Color chemistry is nasty stuff. If you can avoid that stuff sitting in the processor you'll greatly increase it's longevity, if nothing else make cleaning a simple chore.

Rare to get a CP32 - congrats! Where did you find one? Did you get the W/D module as well and/or the replenishment unit (I have the W/D unit, but still looking specifically for the CP32 replenishment unit myself).

I almost pulled the trigger on a CP51 for $200!! I would have had to pay $700 to have it picked up and shipped, and it requires a 220V line (another major expense), and uses quite a bit more chemistry, but I passed it up (I am sure I'll regret doing so some day). I decided the CP32 14" was enough for me and the volume I do. I also just got a Photo-Therm Sidekick 8 that is now being upgraded to a Super Sidekick 8 by the manufacturer - all new guts. The dream darkroom is finally coming together!

I live in Tokyo and found one through an auction here, its arriving on wednesday and looks in good shape, no i didn't find a replenishment unit yet or w/d kit, though im using a different sort of machine to dry the prints.
Sounds amazing, your dream darkroom is coming together! im just starting mine Looking for 2 colour enlargers now.

Just managed to score a CP32 as well!!! Only reason I got it for a good price was because it does not have any rollers in it.

I have a CP31 and thinking of using it's rollers (hopefully it fits!). @Mike if possible would love the instructions for CP32 and if you have them the ones for CP31 as well.

On a side note if anybody has rollers they want to part with please let me know. I live in Tokyo, Japan. Hopefully there are some members in here from Japan. Fingers crossed!!!!
