Spectra Film and Video in North Hollywood, California actually does load the Velvia 50 into Super-8 cartridges. They sell the cartridges with processing paid so the price may seem high but it does include the processing as well.

I agree with you however, Kodak should consider loading their "competitors" film into their own cartridges since it would be an acceptable replacement to Kodachrome 40, not an identical replacement, but it would be a low grain reversal film stock with lots of color punchiness.

In the meantime Spectra has done R & D to make sure the Velvia would transport through the super-8 cartridges easily. I recently tested the innovated cartridge and the film traveled through the cartridge flawlessly.

35mm & 16mm Kodak film stocks loaded by Kodak that are currently available in Super-8 include Vision 200T & 500T negative, Plus X & Tri X Reversal, Ektachrome 64 Reversal.

Spectra loads both Fuji Velvia and Kodak Ektachrome 100D in Super-8 and 16mm.
