My Voiglander 667W was sent to Cosina when I had an issue a year or so ago and they had to build a part for it (according to them). Took 6 months but when it came back it was like new.
Yes, seems a little strange that they hike up the prices to astronomical levels for something that was initially lost.

I'm more concerned with parts, rather than repair labor. And an extended warranty won't make parts appear. But it's a personal risk/reward decision.
They had 30+ years of use. I don't expect a mechanical device to last forever.
There are no parts to repair this camera at Fuji USA. It will have to be shipped to Japan and that is still no guarantee that they can fix it. As they may not have the parts either.
B&H has been silent about this apart from saying it has a warranty.
Fujifilm doesn't make this camera, Cosina does. What evidence is there that they can't fix it?
I pointed out before that Hasselblad with several lens are less expensive and the GF670 cannot change lenses.
And much much larger than the Fuji.
Sometimes you just need a larger camera to capture the photograph.
And sometimes a larger camera doesnt fit in with your travel plans. It's a good thing there are choices so one can pick the suitable equipment for their needs. A Hassy would never, ever work for me, despite how much I crave the lenses that camera has.
That is why I use several formats. It just happens that one is my favorite.
People in the USA have had to get their cameras sent to Japan to get fixed because Fuji USA said they don't work on them anymore. Cosina may make it, but it is badged and sold as a Fuji, by Fuji.
In another thread Henry Posner of B&H chimed in and said that the camera has a 1 year warranty. But when I asked him for the specifics that I mention here - who will fix it, where will it go? - he did not reply.
Probably because that question is appropriate for Fuji, which warranties the camera, not a retailer selling it.
No, the question is for the retailer selling the camera. They are an official Fuji distributor selling the only new stock of this product. Fuji USA in the past has already said they do not work on the camera. So has this changed?
And to show how this lacks transparency, in the Q&A section on B&H someone asks if this camera is discontinued. A B&H rep states 'to the best of their knowledge it has not..":

In the US, there is a federal law covering manufacturer warranties. But since the camera almost certainly comes with a limited warranty, it depends on what the warranty actually promises. Probably "manufacturer defects" for 1 year.
It's worth noting that FujiFilm USA still shows a US authorized repair site. Where it might go for actual repair is another issue.
It's my guess that you'd be OK for a year; after that who knows. That fact that it's actually made by Cosina is immaterial unless they decide to produce the same camera under their own brand.

Cosina has made many, many different cameras under many different brands (like the last iteration of the Zeiss Ikon)_. None of them, to my knowledge, have been abandoned.
Fuji USA has never worked on these cameras. They are not made by Fuji. The warranty work takes place in Japan. I have talked with Fuji in the past here in the US and they have an open channel with Cosina to get warranty work done, or even paid repairs.
As best I can determine, B&H is not "an official Fuji distributor." When selling directly imported ("gray market") products, B&H typically includes the word "Imported" on its listings. No such notation appears on the B&H GF670 page. While Fujifilm USA might have previously announced the camera was discontinued, all indications are that Fujifilm USA is the official Fuji distributor of remaining product B&H is retailing. Therefore, Fujifilm USA must make good on any warranty claims arising during the first year of retail purchaser ownership.
I remain open to evidence -- not conjecture -- that refutes this analysis.

I sent my out of warranty GF670 to Fujifilm USA in New Jersey for repair. It arrived there Tuesday. I just got off the phone with them. The person I talked to was extremely helpful. He said that they do in fact accept and repair these cameras. He chuckled, because when I told him folks are saying that Fujifilm USA will not repair the camera, he said he just saw something on the B&H website where someone said the same thing. Now here I am calling about it. He put me on hold and checked on the status of the repair for me. The woman diagnosing the problem is right there in New Jersey with him, not in Japan. Turns out the railing is slightly bent and a part needs to be replaced to fix the battery drain problem that I wanted fixed (didn't know the railing was bent because the camera opens/closes just fine). Anyway, he gave me the quote to fix. He said if I approve of the quote, they're going to send me a new camera with a 6 month warranty. The quote wasn't cheap. Be gentle with your GF670!

They fixed mine a year ago with no drama. It took 3 weeks from me and back to me so if it went to Fuji Japan they turned it around pretty quickly. As long as it did get repaired I guess it is a moot point.

perhaps the issue that was fixed w/ the poster above in NJ was simple enough not to need it to be sent abroad?
