Hi all, I've recently purchased one of these and there is one issue I have with it and that is the mirror dampening foam is deteriorating and needs replacement. Can anyone give me a rough estimate on the price of repair or if indeed it is possible. the seller assures me it's an easy fix but I have never attempted such a task and am unsure if it is actually financially viable?
Any help gratefully received.

Check with Jon Goodman too. He's on this site. I've gotten a few of his foam kits. Great kits. Great guy.

As I recall, Jon Goodman has a kit for the ST605, but the ST's are all the same regarding seals, so it will work fine. The kits are not expensive and are the same quality as original.

Also, the 'horrible' Zenit E has neither foam nor light leaks. Wonder how they did it and why others could not also? - David Lyga

The Nikon F2, CanonP, Canon VI, don't have foam seals.

The Exakta IIa has black string instead.
