I'm good on Fuji Film for now. My freezer is full enough. Honestly, I think it's a good move. They're making a conscious effort to keep film profitable for them, so they don't run themselves into financial trouble and have to abandon film all together.

Then again, when you shoot sheet film, you kind of get numb to the high prices for film and processing. When you get used to asking yourself "is this shot worth $10?", it's not much of a change to ask yourself "is this shot worth $13.30?".

Except if they want to maximize profit for their remaining stock. Which is still an amazingly smart move (for them).

Seen this several places this morning. Guess it is time to stock the freezer a bit?

Jon you are welcome (of course you are) but I also don't want to annoy you Jon - so pls.
forgive me to state :

Guess it is too late to stock the freezer - much too late I would state!

But stop .....Jon (I just read again and noticed "a bit") could that mean that there is (today) something beside frozen wild meat in your freezer ?

Lets start a challege ? What is inside from Fujifilm and what have you payed ?

with regards

PS : No fear - burglars are adviced not to hear..........:D!

A good shot is it worth on every pricing. But at first I find a good shot just per decade and at last
I noticed hundreds of bad shots every quarter.....:D:D!

And Fujifilm isn't responcible to teach me to come to better shots from highest film pricing.:whistling:!

True on all points! I guess I'm just looking at it from the angle that I'm glad anyone is still making film. Especially a company like Fuji who has so many other divisions within their company that make so much more money for them. Most businesses in their situation would have dropped that department long ago to concentrate on sectors with higher growth potential and better profitability. I mean Xerox (used to be called the Haloid Company) no longer makes photographic equipment or paper. 3M used to be a mining company. Nintendo made playing cards. The list goes on and on.

Currently have about 30 or so rolls of c200, 20-30 rolls of xtra400, 50' of superia 400, 5 pack of velvia 50 and 4 rolls of provia. I have been cleaning out my stash of xtra 800, maybe 10 rolls of it left frozen. I may sell that off. I would worry about the chromes but can shoot ektachrome. I prefer kodak c41 and use the portra's as my "pro" film and have plenty of kodak consumer stock as well.

Of course there is an endless list of further companies : Durst isn't manufacturing enlagers since
years (sad about because my first was a Durst...) but Kaiser is still selling (it seams to be they are not producing it actually today) but Kaiser on the other side is still involved into film/photo
business and Durst is producing its Tau 330:surprised::

I'm confident they are still making fresh film. After all, thanks to Instax, they have busy coating line that isn't going to go away. Not as long as Instax keeps going strong. But, being a big, international company their Films have to more or less carry their weight financially. That might entail some minimum Return on Investment, at least on paper, to not drag down their overall profitablity. Again on paper. And even then it's probably down to some Fujilove that they are still offering them at all instead of cutting it off, which would be the easier thing to do.

I guess we can only hope that the incoming Emperor will casually mention how much he loves to use his Japanese medium format camera with Fuji film...

OK you've won Jon.....!

I "just" frozen 3 x 20 packs Fuji Sensia 100 ( around 89 bucks years ago)
Notice Fuji E6 35mm at about 4,5 USD...:outlaw:!

Around 50 - 60 Agfa Precisa 100 ( Fuji Provia ) at 24,90 bucks (per 5 pack)

Notice Fuji Provia at about 5 bucks :outlaw:!

But thats seams to be all from Fuji.....! I guess there may be a last Velvia50 ?!

I will not pay 20 bucks a roll Fuji E6 because I be used to that pricing my freezer is telling me each time I opened!

with regards

PS : Lots of other stuft inside. I missed c200 but I bought Kodak VR 200 at 1,69 per 2pack:wink:

You think that maybe the price increase might cause them to lose more sales there by making them to lose more money than the increase brings in ?

I am sure they crunched to numbers to optimize the demand price curve before they announced the increase.

I am not concerned by any increase. Early March is when I usually put in a $3,000 forward order for RVP50 and RDPIII which covers me for the next 12 months or so.
Dealers will still have back inventory stocks to cushion consumers against the price rise (cost increases are a normal business allowance for professionals) , which will be effective on orders on and forward 1st April. Online sellers will be a good bet for undercutting retail store rises.

Guys, as far as I know, this isn’t an official Fuji announcement.
