Can anyone tell me the differences between the 180mm f3.2 MD lens, and the 180mm f3.2 GX D lens? I'm having a hard time finding anything definitive on any of the Fuji lenses for the GX680 system, so a link to something from Fuji, that is new enough to include the GX D lens line, would be great. Also if anyone has personal experience between the two 180mm lenses mentioned above I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm looking to pick up a 180mm soon and am trying to figure out of I want/need a GX D or am OK with an MD.

Thank you!

I could only find a f/3.2 GX MD and f/5.6 GX M lenses. The faster lens weighs more; the optical formula is different between the two lenses. The wider aperture would give softer out of focus rendering, if that is important to you.

Thanks Wilmarco. I've seen the page you referenced, and it's what makes me think these GX D lenses must be the latest versions. They don't show up on any of the lens lists I've found. They do however exist, and sellers ask more for them in general than for the MD version. I'm just not sure why.

And yes, this is meant to be a portrait lens so I do want a f3.2

Picture scarfed off Ebay...

Early lenses had no suffix, the M signified memory added to the lens to track actuations, which could be displayed on the film back LCD.

D was only on the f/3.2 lenses.

The 180mm f/3.2 GX D came before the 180mm f/3.2 GX MD.

The 180mm f/5.6 GX came before the 180mm f/5.6 GX M.

So then a MD lens, is a D with memory added? Meaning the MD is the latest version then right? Interesting that the D seems more expensive, hard to always tell though as it's not by a huge amount and condition and whims of the seller have to be considered. Especially whims of the seller, it is after all EBay...

The lenses are almost identical. A 680 III can record information on the film in most cases. If you want the lens info in there (including a shutter count) get the newer lens. If you have a I or II camera it shouldn't matter which. There really is that I've seen no actual difference in prices on these lenses. It's just what the seller this particular month happens to have, and thinks they can get it. The lens elements and coatings are identical by everything I've seen, so no image difference.

Thanks J3, much appreciated!
