I have a Fuji GW690 (first version) where the hotshoe wires weren't connected to anything on the body, just attached to the top plate hotshoe assembly. And looks to be a rewire job by someone in the past. I cannot see any place where it looks like the hot/center wire would connect to anything on the body interior. Anybody have an idea where to look?

And the PC terminal on the camera front is also dead. It will short out and fire a connected flash at times but no reaction to the shutter firing.

My instinct is to simply accept that the flash wiring is done for. Not real interested in digging inside the shutter itself to trace out wires, etc. but maybe it's simpler than I think.

So, is the GW690 flash sync fairly easy to access and work on?

If it is a hot shoe, then the wires should be connected to the shutter connector. I don't have either of my Fuji's in front of me.

It maybe as simple as making sure they're connected in parallel i.e. the positive cable connected to the centre post of the shoe.

If neither the PC socket or the hot shoe are triggering the flash, then you'd need to explore the shutter.

Thanks. What is throwing me off is not finding a connection point for the hotshoe. I've looked through the service manual and they show what appears to be a 'junction' part, but I can't figure out where it is mounted in side the camera! Oh well...

I have a copy of the Fuji GW690 III (not v1) service manual (but not the camera) and it looks like the hotshoe is wired to a connection point near or under? the exposure counter unit. Here's the page. I put red and blue circles on the parts that I suspect are connected, but I don't know where exactly they would go.

Thanks. I have that manual and have been pondering that drawing. I can't find anything in the counter area that looks like electrical connections. No wires, no little tabs for grounding, no wires coming from the lens/shutter area. Considering the condition of the wiring coming off of the hotshoe and some of the unique 'adjustments' made to the wind mechanism, I bet the parts were ripped out, eaten for breakfast, sacrificed in anger at Fuji's discontinuance of Acros film, or some other thing. I think I will accept that although flash sync is nice, I haven't used a flash in 30 years so I'll just close it back up.

From what I remember about the mk III, there should be two wires with little tabs and tiny screws attached under the hot shoe
Oh there are wires there! One looks like picture hanging wire- bare. One looks like it's from a toy battery back, and it is black not red as called out in service manual.

My big problem is having a place to attach those two wires to. I simply cannot find anything that looks like a wire should be soldered onto it. And the body PC terminal is also dead.
