It's only been a month or 2 since it was discontinued, and Fujifilm USA is already out of parts?:blink:

Well you could try Japan through a 3rd party guy. Maybe try Bellamy Hunt? He could probably source someone to help repair it.

What is the problem with your gf670 anyway?

Did you ask if this is a temporary situation?

I was under the impression that discontinued products sold in many countries had to have spare parts available for a certain minimum number of years, even if the actual servicing itself was not available from the manufacturer.

I could be wrong, though...

I just recently read someone else complaining of the same issue. This is crazy!

Isn't the US importer CameraQuest? https://www.cameraquest.com/

Stephen Gandy imports, services and is responsible for warranty on Voigtlander-labeled product. Fuji imports, services and is responsible for warranty on Fuji-labeled product. Stephen is strict about not providing repair services of any kind for gray-market Voigtlander product, and he certainly has no contractual responsibility for service of any kind on Fuji product. It is not safe to assume that he would repair it; in addition to competing directly, Fuji undercut him on price by more than $500, so he has plenty of reason not to clean up their problems.

Thanks everyone, already checked with Cameraquest and Japancamerahunter. Have no luck with both of them. Got no reply from
Cosina and Fujifilm Japan too.

The lens couldn't focus to infinity and couldn't retract to the body.

I seem to remember that in the USA is was 7 years after the last on sold by the mfg. although that seems to be a short anyway.

I just checked on-line and am surprised to find that there is no legislation either in the U.K or the E.U.on this matter.

Fuji seems to have a habit of this. Film, and cameras too. I had a neat little 6x4.5 Fuji MF camera (forget the name, but was all black plastic, and had the crash bar around the lens). Kept sending it back to KEH for the shutter to be repaired. They fixed it twice under their warranty, which was amazing on a used camera, then I never got it back the third time. After a couple of months I called to see where it was and they said they were unable to repair it anymore because there were no more parts for it. They credited my credit card for the whole price of the initial purchase!

That was the old KEH. Not sure how the new one works, but we'll find out.

That sounds like an easy fix for any camera repair person, or even for a DIY guy. Folders are easy to fix. Unless it has a broken part that cannot be adapted to, or otherwise made to work. In which case, buy a Bessa II w/ Heliar, or even a Bessa RF w/ Heliar. Those were made by the real Voigtlander company. Big difference in quality.

Or buy a Voigtlander and suddenly my Fuji comes back to life.

This is not a reasonable comparison. The GS645S has been out of production for more than 20 years. Very few companies provide parts for anywhere near that long.

It would be outrageous, though, if Fuji really is dropping the ball on GF670 service just at the point when sales are discontinued. From the discussion so far, it's sounding that way.

I just called Fujifilm USA's pro camera repair line myself, to ask about the availability of GF670 repairs. The representative had to put me on hold while he went to ask his supervisor. The answer that came back was that whether they can repair a GF670 depends on what's wrong with it - it's necessary to send in a camera for evaluation before they can say. In other words, no promises.

Ouch.

This makes me wonder if there are problems between Cosina and Fuji.

I also wonder if this situation may have some relation to the discontinuation of the Fuji GF 670 version of the camera.

I think Fuji just ordered a fixed production run and raised the "discontinued" flag when inventory ran out. There's no evidence they ever intended this to be a long-running product. Still, why do they not have adequate parts on hand for whatever run they ordered? And why are they unwilling or unable to obtain more?

That is too bad. I had that same problem a year ago and it was fixed by Fuji USA very quickly.

Maybe it is time to start probing the camera to find out what causes this issue. I suspect that it is a mechanical interlock that somehow is pushed out of alignment, bent or broken. I have used a lot of old folders but when this happened to me I could not spot the problem myself. Of course I didn't tear anything apart either.

This is certainly one area where the relative simplicity of the older folders makes it easier to work these things out.
