Fuji Acros II - Soot and Chalk version?

I have just seen an advert for older version of Fuji 100 Acros which suggests that the latter version was of the soot and chalk variety I had always thought that version II was pretty well the same as version

I have started a new thread as comments or questions of this nature in the replies section of a "for sale" advert are frowned upon

Was this not the case with versíon II ? Usually the phrase "soot and chalk" refers to high contrast pure black and white where the tonal range is very limited

Have used both version 1 and 2 and agree with you that version 2 is pretty much the same. Don't think it is that complicated.

If it is 135-size there shouldn't be any problem, but if it is 120-size just make sure that it isn't an expired emulsion. Acros II has suffered the same problems with mottling on early emulsions as Ilford did, especially on FP4+ .
Ilford seems to have solved the problems on later emulsions and from what I have seen, also Acros II is fine now. The mottling problems occurred on 120-size film only.

If one is getting soot and chalk, then one does not know how to work with this film, or any pan film, for that matter. I enjoy both old, and new Acros.
