Yashica Mat-124G 120 roll film camera and kit.

The built-in exposure meter accurately works and the battery is included.

The kit includes the OEM lens cap, OEM neck strap, a Hoya bayonet mount lens shade, an OEM Yashica 30mm bayonet mount Y2 filter for black & white photography, an optional Yashica branded auxiliary telephoto lens set in its own OEM Yashica leather case, the original Owners User Manual, the factory original leather/felt lined hard leather camera case, and a padded camera carrying bag.

This camera was bought freshly rebuilt and CLA'd (cleaned, lubed, and adjusted) in April 2022 from Mark Hama, the renowned Yashica factory repair technician, and has only shot a total of five film rolls since.

The camera is located in the Midwest US. Price including shipping by USPS Priority Mail, is $549.00 payable by personal check or cashiers check. I'm too old to learn about electronic payments.

Be aware that I have this advertised on Craigslist and my daughter has it on F/B.

My god, 500 reads and not even a nibble! No one interested enough even to try talking to me. I must stand out like a real sucker because I thought enough of the camera to pay that kind of money to Mr. Hama. Similar situation with the Pentax 645 I also have listed. Disappointed in myself, out of touch apparently.

You might put it on Ebay or another site. My experience here is that people are paying to the bottom end of the range. Not an insult- more a user market, older market. What you have in the 124G has a stronger market among younger people. Where the 124G is highly sought after and appreciated and paid for. Make certain you explain who Mark Hama is.

Thanks Dan for your comment, some commentary is what I am after by posting my sniveling whine🙄. Yes ebay; before buying this from Mr Hama, and since, I have had an eye on what sells and how well there on ebay. That was why I was willing to pay 500 to him for a freshly overhauled 50 year old camera rather than 350-450 for an unknown.

Oh and by the way if I can go off on a tangent (what the heck, it _is_ my thread) pertaining to honest descriptions of condition of these old cameras, I've come to respect the Japanese sellers as a class on ebay. I've learned that the higher shipping cost Is more than offset by the peace of mind at getting what I expect based on the seller's description.

Again Dan, thanks,

May I ask if this has the original focusing screen or something newer/brighter?

Oh my, I guess I have no idea how to definitively answer that. I bought it directly from Mr. Hama and my assumption is that it is all original. I guess that I'm blissfully unawares of there even being such a thing.

That's no problem. If you have a photo taken of the screen view that could be helpful. I think the original is gridded in a way that would be easy to identify.

And there it is, as I sit outside on a gorgeous September afternoon.

For those of you who don't know who Mark Hama is, he is " a legend in the Yashica TLR world. He actually worked at Yashica assembling TLRs for years." If you want to see a master at work, check out this time lapse video (54 sec.) of him doing a total tear down of a 124G. Then check out the whole story at this site: https://earthsunfilm.com/hama-time/ .

I am not affiliated with Mr. Hama in any way, but I am a Mechanical Engineer, and I really appreciate this kind of talent! Apologies to the OP - not trying to Bogart you thread - just adding a little color commentary!🙂

all the best,

Paul

Actually, thank you. Perhaps I took a bit too much for granted thinking that anyone interested in obtaining a Mat124G would already just know that. Much appreciated,

Mark Hama CLA'd mine. He did such amazing work.

Mr. Hama re-repaired my Rolleiflex 3.5E. I had sent it to Krikor Maralian, who once was a legend in Rollei repairs at Marflex Service Company. Well, in old age, he slipped badly, and the film advance was wrong. I could not get satisfaction from Maralian and finally sent it to Mark Hama. Perfect immediately.

Hah, I suppose no-nibbles might be preferable to being hassled to give a garage-sale price🤣
