How does ye contact printer work?

It's basically a box with two light bulbs inside. A red bulb (safelight) that is always on and then a white bulb that comes on when you press the little button. Place your neg face down on the glass, place your paper on top of that, close the lid and press the button to expose.

Not really, with photo paper you'd still need to be working in a darkroom under safe light.
