I have been working for the past 12 months for a dear friend, selling off his entire custom lab’s worth of equipment. I am looking to sell off the small, easy-to-ship items first.

This is a very nice set of custom milled Speed Carriers (from San Francisco) that fit Beseler 45 Series enlargers (and I am pretty sure they’ll fit Saunders LPL, but I do not have one to try). I have been using these on my DeVere 504 with a custom adapter plate (not for sale, but I will make a trace template and provide photos to anyone who is wanting to build one for themselves). This set cost my friend over $2500 when they were new – each one was custom milled by a machinist here in Arlington, VA (using some of the original Speed Carrier blanks he already had). Each is made of heavy aluminum-alloy, are black anodized and are buttery smooth to the touch. They slip into place when inserted into the cassette holder – they do not move vertically at all, but are allowed some horizontal movement for centering. For those of you who have never used a Speed Carrier, you are in for a real treat. The cassette holder sits permanently in the camera stage of your enlarger, clamped into place. Then, you just slide the mask into the side of the cassette holder – BANG! You’re done. Perfect every time and very, very - well, speedy. No need to refocus or otherwise fiddle with your enlarger. A real joy to use.

Here is the list of custom sizes, measured (in millimeters) by a dial caliper and marked on each mask;

1. 95 X 121 (4X5)
2. 95 X 121 (4X5)
3. 95 X 120.8 (4X5)
4. 95 X 120.5 (4X5)
5. 70 X 82 (labeled “Negative-In-A-Card”)
6. 58 X 83
7. 58 X 45
8. 58 X 45
9. 57.5 X 45
10. 57 X 82
11. 57 X 82
12. 57 X 57.5
13. 57 X 57
14. 57 X 44
15. 56.5 X 69
16. 55 X 66.5
17. 55 X 55
18. 55 X 42
19. 26 X 37
20. 25.5 X 38
21. 23.75 X 35
22. 35mm mounted transparency
23. Speed Carrier Cassette #1 (very nice, worn, but nice)
24. Speed Carrier Cassette #2 (also nice, some electrical tape on one end, probably for light
leak prevention)

Price for the entire set is hard to pin down. I almost never see these for sale, and the few times that I have, none ever are a complete set like this one. So, let’s try $350 shipped CONUS 48 States (this is a heavy box). PayPal as a gift or add 3% to the total.

As a bonus, I’ll match, as a donation to this site, up to 5% of this sale - whatever amount the buyer wants to donate – up to 5%.

Chris - I wish you could too !

I started out with 3 sets of these, but more than one is hoarding....they work so nice, I stopped using my other carriers. There's enough in this set to actually build 2 complete systems (there are pretty much 2 of everything here).

Take care - Jeromie
