Sigma 300/4 APO-EX-HSM, works as a charm on film EOS cameras.
It has a known compatibility issue with the 7D (and may be some other recent bodies), which makes it work only in AV mode at f/4.

Great performer. Comes with caps, transport box and a UV filter. €€150

May be easier to stay inside the E.U, but I'm not closed to WW option.
